Technical issues / Under the hood
Last post by K-Dog - Nov 29, 2025, 05:33 PM

Changes under the hood have been happening here.  Like a new custom turbo.

Years ago RE had the idea of combining his separate websites.  One website was the ancestor of this forum, and another was a separate WordPress site.

Chasingthesquirrel.com has been like a private wordpress site for a while and languishing without users.  Likely it will continue to languish, but it is now part of the forum.  Users here can make comments there.  Moderators here can moderate there.

The last 24 hours integrated a new database table inside the Diner database for article comments with Diner security and moderation.  I still use the existing comment editor for now, and I kept the original uplink and downlink functionality that I invented.

Follow chasingthesquirrel.com, and click the 'Comments' button under the article to see what is going on.

Now I will rework the comment editor to use a new toolbar modeled after the one I just finished for writing and maintaining articles posted there.  Which for now only I have seen.  With the new changes things may not be quite bug free,  I squash bugs as I find them, but testing this puppy is a job in itself.

Overshoot / - Eating the world

Seven ways the world is already collapsing.

This came up in my You Tube feed and I went to her channel.  I found this there, Sprout Village.  Some interesting stuff.  I will play her videos while I work on the Diner.

Torn between hopium and reality, we have all been there.

QuoteThere's no evidence I am aware of that technical expertise can be used to develop wisdom, or that there is even any correlation between them.

True, they are not the same thing.  Technical expertise is a narrow and focused blade.  Wisdom is a broad river, wider than De Nile.

An excellent way to say it.

And as I said, the combination can be quite lucrative. It isn't a unique combination...but in my experience it is hard to find.

That is only because "wisdom" can be as amorphous to quantify as ....say....beauty.

It's more like being funny.  Some people can know a lot of jokes and never get a laugh.   Funny people make others laugh just by observing the truth and pointing it out.

Quote from: TDoS on Nov 27, 2025, 03:25 PMOf course they aren't. But for those who fell on the right side of your gene combination, and ended up with the right expertise at the right time, and used both to develop not ONLY wisdom but insight into previously unknown concepts and ideas, having both can be quite lucrative.

Technical expertiese and Wisdom are not synonymous.
