I'll take a crack at it.

I made it through about the first 10 minutes to the point where it hit the self improvement plan on how to be a good American Communist. It most closely resembled a standard 10-step plan to self improvement. Be nice. Help out. Be honest. The pitch could as easily be applied to someone becoming a Mormon, a Moonie, or a recovery plan for acoholics or the drug addicted. It was a wonderful list...and if that is a led into being a good Commie, hey, nothing wrong with self improvement.

Was there somewhere after the first 10 minutes or so where they talk about the political consequences, and how their version of commie is better than being  a good Mormon or Moonie? Or how American communists certainly deserve their million dollar homes and luxury cars for all the retired family members at home? Because I have to say, that is one draw for folks based on self interest, kowing American communism has a better end result than just "be a nice person and try hard to be a decent person" pitch.

Climate Fuckifications / Hurricane Hell 2024 - Milton o...

Milton made it to the top of the Cat5 scale with winds at 180 mph, but has now backed off to Cat4 150 mph or so.  Classic symmetrical cyclone shape and expanding in size.  Tampa Bay is going to get hammered with storm surge.  The flooding is going to rival NOLA after Katrina if it makes landfall to the north side of bay at high tide.

Climate Fuckifications / Hurricane Hell 2024 - Worst Ca...
Last post by RE - Oct 06, 2024, 02:27 PM
Looking real ugly for Tampa Bay and even inland to Orlando and Disneyworld.  5 October's worth of rain in a couple of days along with heavy storm surge and 120 mph winds.  This is enough to basically flatten central FL, with a solid 3M people in the path.  Some insurance companies could go broke on this one.  The companies covering the region are already stretched by the claims coming from Helene.

This is where Climate Collapse intersects with Economic Collapse and Social Collapse.  There will be a whole lot more Homeless down there on top of the already large number, along with a significant loss of housing units.  It's shaping up to be Katrina-like in scale on the economics and number of displaced people.

Definitely one to watch for Collapse Observers.

Climate Fuckifications / Real estate expert reveals 'on...
Last post by RE - Oct 05, 2024, 05:11 AM
What's the worry? According to the article, only 2 to 4% of homeowners have flood insurance to begin with.  Obviously, if the insurance cost rises, more people will drop their insurance.  This seems like a bigger problem for the insurers than the homeowners. at least until a flood hits them.

You might want to think twice about buying a McMansion on the Gulf Coast.  Or any coast.  Or mountain regions subject to flash floods.  Or downstream from a Dam that might fail.

General Discussion / More for TDOS
Last post by K-Dog - Oct 02, 2024, 10:07 AM

Seems the FSOA dog and pony show needed to rewrite and distort some info on the Ukrainian famine of 1933/34.  There seem to be current events in Ukraine that cause a few little white lies to be exaggerated.

This is so TDOS can attend elementary school.

In other stupidity, I tried, but could not avoid the Vice Presidential debate tonight.  The perils of living with other people.

Both of the duopoly vice poombah super heroes think that increasing the production of domestic energy supplies will mitigate the climate crisis.  They share a drain America first mindset, or in other words are as stupid as fuck.  I have to say it like it is.  If they both had to spell carbon, one of them would get it wrong.

Vance is a straight up lying denialist.  Walz would believe idealism is a branch of science if he heard it on a Sunday morning.

Neither one would ever admit to knowing what CARBON FEE AND DIVIDEND is.  They are both duopoly, and as such bound to the party line.  So less said the better for both of them.  The party line has become embarrassing.  Capitalism ooh-rah forevah.  More for me.  Less fo you.  Nothing for the other guy, and lets grow baby grow.  Let the good times grow-oh.  Grow until that last drop of Permian oil is squeezed out the last slab of sandstone.  Oh yeah.

Here is a game.

A couple of Jokers and two duces.  One card matches Trump and another matches Vance.  Another card matches Kamala and another matches Walz.

Match each card to a candidate.

I'll say what my matches are later.

Caligula fighting the sea was as wise as the choices before us.

I recall them. Using CFS in your case....I observe that you haven't taken any of them. Generating the question, is it a "if wishes were horses" problem, or is your choice to stay where you are a tacit admission as to the quality of those "choices"?

I stay where I am for numerous reasons, not the least of which is I am an amputee with a compromised spine and resultant CNS and PNS damage, and this type of Post Acute Care housing is what I an qualified for.  Beyond that, the type of housing I have designed isn't available (yet).  Beyond that, even typical Affordable Housing units are in short supply here in Anchorage with long waiting lists.  I've been on them for over a year.

No idea what your parents frame of reference is, nor is it relevant.  The tone of your post is insulting though, so I'll give you a week in the cooler.

If I could burn TDOS's non-sequiturs in my car I'd never have to buy another tank of gas again.  However were I to do that, the exhaust out the tailpipe would have such a horrible stench that I would be a mass-ex-stink-tion event all by myself.  It would not just be a greenhouse gas.  It would be greenhouse ass.

Quote from: RECan you keep your "stuff"?
Well, experience at keeping my stuff for decades now would seem to indicate I can. Although the goal at my age obviously is to get rid of stuff prior to my mortality being revealed. So the less stuff I own by the time I die the better of course.

Quote from: REWhat stuff?  If your stuff includes a Private Jet, no.  A motorcycle, yes, a dozen Vintage bikes and 3 or 4 carz, no.  Use CFS.
RE
I use CFS all the time, but certainly not in the same frame of reference you do. Your frame is much more like my parents...living in facilities, one missing a leg, small pleasures rule, etc etc.

So yes, I can keep my stuff, but your question doesn't even seem to consider the context of legal divesture prior to demise to pass along generation wealth. Use some CFS.
