General Discussion / When calling it fascism is no ...
Last post by K-Dog - Today at 08:33 AM

Here 1 comment + 1 comment = 0 comments.  Or jack shit in other words.  Same deal, I have the dark screen on my own computer, and the other connection where zero actually does equal zero is light colored.

They had their chance.

General Discussion / What is shadowbanning.
Last post by K-Dog - Sep 07, 2024, 10:29 PM
It is talking in a vacuum.  It is when you type and nobody sees you.

You may or may not know who Caleb Maupin is.  That does not matter.  I have been listening to him rant recently.

It should come as no surprise to you that I would leave comments in the chat.  After all you are reading this.  But where are my comments?

The dark screen shows my computer.

The light colored screen shows the same chat from another computer that is not logged in.

A popup window cuts some of the lines off.

Do I have to say I am not happy.

As you can see I am hidden and I would be talking to myself were I a stupid fuck.

Just another day in the FSOA.  My mouse selected Mohsn.  Consequently there is a popup shown or the congruence between screenshots would be greater.

Fascism Lite
like a beer.  Same great oppression, but not in your face.

* Fun Fact : I did not know what shadow banning is until it happened to me.

Ain't no one here but us geriatrics at this point, and undoubtedly none of our memories are as good as they once were.

RE
You were wearing all black, which was kind of weird in the days heat. And that hat. Dave and Monsta were mostly over by their own sunshade, they had a cooler, seems like someone was using it for a seat, Eddy wasn't around. The boy that asked about the scooter was black. From where we were standing, the SUN sunshade was to my right, Wendy was manning it, John was out in the sun at a table doing something bambooey with a few lookers on. Only that one boy interrupted us.

None of our memories are as good as they once were. Some are better than others perhaps.

I had a white beard. Perhaps that helps?

Oh good grief.  Going into Mr. Peabody's WATBAC machine, you claimed to be an expert in this branch of scientic research with numerous papers published blah blah blah.  An engineering degree I recall from Notre Dame ot some other 3rd tier school.  I'm pretty sure it wasn't from one of the top ranked schools for Petrogeology related field, since you have a huge chip on your shoulder regarding education.

Geochemistry is the branch of Earth Science that applies chemical principles to deepen an understanding of the Earth system and systems of other planets. Geochemists consider Earth composed of discrete spheres — rocks, fluids, gases and biology — that exchange matter and energy over a range of time scales.

The Top 3 schools for the subjects are:

Australia National University
Cambridge University
China University of Geosciences Beijing

Down further come MIT & Stanford and University of Texas at Austin just makes the Top 10.  I recall you mentioning them at some point.

Regardless of any of that, your cloak and dagger adventure to ole Dixie to have a chat with me about EVs was so amazing until you reminded me of the chat I had no memory of meeting you whatsoever.  You were just another faceless person I talked to that day about the SUN project & EV Scooters.

Quote from: TDoS on Sep 06, 2024, 03:51 PMInteresting. I once traveled 1500 miles to chat with you.

No, according to YOU that trip wasn't made to chat with me, you just "happened to be nearby" on some other mission and "took a little side trip" to skulk around at the Festival and chat with me incognito without revealing who you were or even bringing up your favorite topics of Peak Oil or Geochemistry which might have rung a bell with me so I would recognize you.  This is hardly "showinhg respect".  It's more like "STALKING":o  The IRL version of what you do here online with me.
RE
Holy run on sentence batman.

Yes...there was other travel involved. And it was nowhere near South Carolina, so while perhaps the total deviation wasn't 1500 miles, it was substantially more than a normal person's "nearby", not even being in the same part of the country, and an entire nother days drive away. Of course, "nearby" is relative. To K-Dog who doesn't seem to get out much, 50 miles might be nearby. To you, "nearby" might only be where the facilities van will haul you, what is that, maybe 20 miles? To me "nearby" is the L48, My drives to Alaska are about the only place I've driven that doesn't qualify as "nearby". My concept of a "drive" isn't like normal peoples. You've got your million miles doing it professionally, my total now stands at 1.4 million cage miles ( motorcycles are another quarter million). So, maybe nearby for me, not anywhere in a nearby universe to you or K-Dog.

Walking up to you and beginning a conversation is hardly skulking. Or stalking. I wasn't there to discuss my areas of interest, but to see how IRL you presented yours. And how seriously you took this SUN thing. The after pictures and stories of drunken revelry and poor scooter riding at the lake house would seem to negate the seriousness of the venture at the end of the day.

And while I am hell on wheels when it comes to peak oil, geochemistry doesn't even make my top 10 favorite topics...maybe you've confused me with someone else?  8)

Talking for half an hour isn't lurking in my book. Got his entire spiel for the EV scooters as well. Spoke to Wendy as well, she was passing out literature which was useful as it had phone numbers and whatnot for the SUN thing, etc etc. RE was busy demoing  the scooter for a youngster who asked about them, stopped back to say goodbye afterwards.

And of course I didn't introduce myself. Neither did he.

Quote from: K-DogAnd you still have not learned that a mystery man can't get traction.  But that assumes you want some.

I've already said my piece about RE's investigation of who I am (as did he, in this very forum...did the MIB get that?) and how he and Haniel sorted it out. Did RE mention that Dave was busily posting pictures from those investigations and everything at the Diner, or was that before your time? How many named, photographed and pictures posted like a wanted poster can take place before someone isn't a mystery men?

I was there. You weren't. Personal experience matters, a point you've made before. My memory is quite good, and 30 minutes talking with RE, watching him demo a electric scooter for a young man who asked about it, and yack away, isn't "lurking". I did lurk for 5 minutes after I spotted him and his squad telling myself, "okay...do you REALLY want to do this"...before forging ahead. Wife thought I was silly, after having been around for the last episode of bumping into internet folks. It was reasonable to be cautious. I was once revealed online, my fault, and the nutter showed up at the gate and tried to get past the armed guards. That was old peak oil days though, prior to the Diner, and prior to RE showing up at peakoil.com

I've been more careful since, and stopping by to see the squad seemed like I might be asking for it. John is a big guy.

A mystery to you perhaps, if you've never asked RE for my name. RE has stated quite clearly the process he used to find me out, how he substantiated and independently confirmed what Haniel had found out using IP tracking on my posts, conferences I went to, IP verified, etc etc.

But if you want to pretend, as RE does, that he didn't do exactly what I just said, that is up to you.

Eco Socialism / The Spirit Level of the United...
Last post by K-Dog - Sep 06, 2024, 05:17 PM

I have been following Richard Wilkinson for years.  He had a book of his own before the first one with Kate.  I bought the 'Inner Level' and am looking at part 2 which gets into the scientific facts which explains why understanding the spirit level is so important.  In other words, proof.

The above will not mean anything to you unless you are also on the spirit level.  Read the you tube description.

Interesting. I once traveled 1500 miles to chat with you. And Wendy. I already demonstrated "really wnated to chat with us" beyond anyone but some in the inner circle...Monsta won that contest, Eddy came in 2nd, but I beat out Dave and John in terms of distance.

As far as respect in the sense that you are probably thinking about it....that can be a little tricky. There are required conditions that need to remain consistent in terms of the interaction with folks on internet forums.

My understanding is you traveled 1500 miles to lurk, and you then did not introduce yourself.  And you still have not learned that a mystery man can't get traction.  But that assumes you want some.
