Corporate boot lickers can't censor the Diner.  We do our own thing here.

I set the Diner up as and independent forum not under any corporate umbrella so that the Diner could not be shadow-censored as ALL corporate entities already are.  The Diner is as free as I want it to be.

Censorship has happened here, but it requires a direct attack from the men in black and that has not happened since Biden was president.  I'm not going too far with this.  Trump is a diabolical fuck, but the Diner has only had posts deleted under Democratic Presidents.  The first being Obama.

I am not expecting trouble, but in attempt to kiss Trump ass this video is banned in America.  A slip up of some kind let it be aired in Canada where the video I show here was saved. 

If I hosted this video on You-Tube it would be taken down, and I would get a copy-write strike.  Three strikes and you are out.  I may later find this post deleted, but that will take a physical act by the men in black on our server and it will be documented.  'They' will have to remind our ISP that under the American plan they can edit our database.  Then I will find I am locked out for a while, and when I can get back to the Diner server, the database will be missing posts.

It has happened.  That is how I can tell you what could happen.

Oh....I understand the consequences of poking the Big Dog moderator on any particular forum. At peakoil.com it was Monte. He erased my entire history in a fit of pique. He didn't like it when the quality of his work was questioned because of his lack of .....knowing stuff. :)

I agree with you that those early 21st century internet peakers spreading false news was a distraction. The man-years wasted, the number of folks going down that rabbit hole were amazing. If they had just decided to solve it for themselves instead, they would have saved so much time.

I thought K-Dog was also complaining about censorship? Just not his own, but the MIB and Co.?

K-Dog was complaining about censorship on OTHER websites.  No rules against that.  Besides, he's ADMIN.  Rules are for MEMBERS, they don't apply to Admins.  That's why we run our own forum.  Instead of complaining, it would be more effective to run your own forum.  Is this concept so difficult to grasp?

Running my own forum, which I've done before when the internet was new and it was a cool tool for company communication, is not hard, nor difficult to grasp.

As far as posting on other people's forums nowadays, well sure, I do that. Not just conversational type forums like this, but ones where results and studies and professional work is released and whatnot. Things that aren't directly published in journals anyway. But, unfortunately, I don't get to be....jocular.....in science rags.

Depends on an individuals sense of humor and circumstance I imagine. I can get some economists rolling in the aisles with old peak oil stories. I recall when we met that you had this particular habit of throwing in a wry laugh or two just...whenever. Not because anything funny was being said, more like a personal characteristic used at the end of sentences. My experience with the MIB, and their minions, is that they were terribly interested in peak oil ideas and analysis (both mine and my take on that of others)...once upon a time. Like a decade or more back now. My "let me tell you about peak oil" powerpoint from back then was a hit across about 3 years for both government flunkies and some interesting talks with the geoscience folks at US major oil companies. 

Had a great time with the USGS and EIA folks, always liked the smart groups with real expertise and knowledge rather than just the usual government bureaucrats just looking for background. Jocularity went over REAL well with the folks with expertise. Not so much with the enthusiasts looking for a good apocalypse trigger.

Depends on the economist I suppose. Some of them are wonderfully creative and jocular and a blast. Others are much more straight laced, more like mathematicians. Can be terribly boring. Well, you do have to be well grounded in peak oil from all sides, not just the supporter positions. Then you can pick out the most egregious examples of pro and con and once a couple of talkative guys get rolling, folks like Mason Inman can then decide what might be of use for their book. You just need to be at the conferences where all these folks bump into each other, and then throw in someone looking for a source of info. Mason was looking for serious stuff of course, and background information, but it was great fun. And if you can get Mason to giggle along with you...well....you must have SOME decent material for the right audience.

Well sure you might miss it, the budget for hauling the inmates to random events can't be that large I imagine. Unless it is close by and you can EV yourself to it in reasonable weather? Last time I was in Anchorage I had a rental Jeep to run around in, makes it easier to get to Seward and other cool places. Beautiful state. The wife probably won't let me drive there from here again....she has requested I fly most distances now and then get a rental and run around instead of doing LRPs in my Lincoln.
