How can anyone really believe that picking judges belongs to the president. FYI : The President has the power to nominate.
The Senate has the power to confirm (provide "advice and consent").
The Judge has the job for life ("during good behaviour"), free from executive control once seated.
And obviously an interim judge picked by other judges should fill a vacant position. Trump should not have been able to fire, he could have nominated someone else and had the Senate confirm his choice. This firing is a high crime and misdemeanor. But unfortunately American Republicans worship fascism and forget what their fathers died for. So nothing will happen.
