PISA test reveals alarming drop in reading and math skills
PISA 2025 results show record-low global reading and math scores among 15-year-olds, with OECD countries seeing the sharpest drops; digital distractions, AI use, and structural education issues are blamed, as Germany fares worse than ever.
Can't find any of my old Education topics, so starting a new one.
It's not hard to identify the reason for this one. With Video available on your smart phone 24/7, kids don't need to read. They don't need to learn math because the phone does that for them too.
Most of the jobs available to the vast majority require little more than the ability to Point & Click at Symbolic Icons if they are not some sort of manual labor.
The only reason to learn the stuff is so you can get into college, so only the ones who are college bound even bother trying. Even those headed there just use Google & AI to do their reports.
What is a little shocking is how fast this Stupidification is moving along and how Global it is. Close to a 10% drop since 2006. It's too bad the test only began in 2006. I can't imagine how much it has dropped since 1970. I know by the time I was teaching Stupidification was already well underway.
