Title: What American Fascism Would Look Like
Post by: RE on May 17, 2024, 12:34 PM
Haven't yet read any of the articles in this series yet, but I can answer the question with 1 word. UGLY.

Considering the improvements that have been made with surveillance technology, "let me see your papers" of the Nazi era would seem like freedom.  I can forsee a law all citizens being required to wear a body cam 24/7, with AI monitoring thee real time audio & video streams for any "Un-Amerikan" activity.  The Diner will go from shadow banning to disappeared.

The New Republic contends we do not have Fascism now, but that Trump will bring it.  I can't agree.  We already have fascism.  Our defense industry controls the state.  Trump did not start that, and we have a double dip of genocide, war, and exploitation right now.  All with Trump gone.

But if we are getting into sophomoric role play then if Trump gets to be Hitler I want to be Albert Speer.  And if their are allegations of slavery in my factories I will see...

The MIC has been in charge since 1776.  The extermination of the aboriginal occupants, non stop wars from 1812, gunboat opening of Japan by Perry, Roosevelt's Rough Riders, 2 World Wars, Vietnam, MENA.  Militarism doesn't necessarily mean Fascism though. All the colonial powers were Monarchies, not Fascist states.

Fascism has only been a definable political system since the early 1900s.  When did the USA become the FSoA in your opinion?

Definitely getting risky to be pro-Palestinian and anti-ethnic cleansing.  Protesting now makes you a terrorist.  Don't stand in the way of Trump Casinos on the new Gaza Riviera!  Ship the Palestinians to Somalia.  Load them in Conex and sail them down the Gulf of Suez.

Will Harvard, Yale or Princeton students and faculty grow a pair and stand up in solidarity with Columbia?  Where's the grandchildren of the SDS and the Weathermen?  Not Fascism Lite anymore.

The Department of Education opened investigations into dozens of universities Friday, part of President Donald Trump's campaign to pressure the higher education world to fall in line with his administration.

But of course Trump does not want the department of education and is shutting it down right?

(https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/40/Reichsadler_Deutsches_Reich_%281935%E2%80%931945%29.svg/440px-Reichsadler_Deutsches_Reich_%281935%E2%80%931945%29.svg.png)

No, he is turning it into the Gestapo.  Trump hates education, education tells stories he does not lik. trump is big brother and he does not like the original lyrics and must change them to his own.

"Under the spreading chestnut tree,
There we sit both you and me,
Oh, how happy we will be,
Under the spreading chestnut tree."  it used to be.  Now it is Rosebud time (https://youtu.be/O4mQqVqRB7I) for democracy.

"Under the spreading chestnut tree
I sold you and you sold me—
There lie they, and here lie we
Under the spreading chestnut tree."  And everything belongs to the upper class.

The Trump administration has delivered an ultimatum to Columbia University. Permanently end federal funding unless the university cedes control of an international studies department and implements sweeping changes to other campus policies.

The university must immediately place its Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies Department under "academic receivership for a minimum of five years."

No explanation of what academic receivership is but I think we can figure it out.

The Mofo must be fired.  Trump is out of control and deranged.

Basically, the Trump-Musk Dynamic Duo is the White Supremacist Racist goobermint the "Christian" Right Wing fanatics wet dream fantasy come true.  What I find remarkable is that despite all the "checks & balances" we were taught in HS Civics classes protected the Amerikan system of goobermint from being flipped into an authoritarian Dictatorship, it is being completely demolished without so much as a shot being fired.  No military Coup d'Etat, just a non-stop machine gun spread of Executive Orders and POOF!, all the legal rights and Constitutional protections we were taught we had are history.

He's been so successful with this approach on the National level, I'm curious how the rest of the world will react when he moves on to rolling over International law and tries to forcibly relocate the Palestinians and Annex Greenland?  Will all the rest of the countries out there just sit back and let it happen?  He's just about guaranteed to do both these things, he's telegraphed it pretty clearly.

So yea, he needs to be fired, but unless there is a major shift in CONgress, they're not gonna do it. The only other hope would be a Military coup d'etat, or maybe an Asteroid crashing on the White House.

The first rule of fight club is you don't talk about fight club.  The rampant abuse and broken laws would certainly justify vigilantism in a court. Though the argument might not prevail. Luigi has paved the way.  Much blood is already on the hands of these psychopaths.

Good speech, but the rule is not explicitly stated.

First real action since the Deportations began.  One hopes for the sake of the protesters arrested they are 3 generation deep white kids.  Preferably with squeaky clean doctor/lawyer/bizman dads.  Otherwise the Trumpenator will drop them on the first plane to El Salvador, never to be heard from again.  They're definitely challenging His Trumpness, so hopefully the organizers were able to recruit some White Bread protesters to staff the action.  Even they are risking a minimum of expulsion.

IF they manage not to get deported, this should encourage more campus protests, which have been pretty well subdued by the fear & intimidation.  Waiting for the blowback from the White House.

Hard not to notice that all the protesters arrested in this photograph are FEMALE.  The story fails to mention this salient fact.  Another story I read did mention it.  I think the strategy being employed is that women are less likely to be deported.  Also to demonstrate they are motivated by humanitarian reasons and don''t fit the typical profile of a terrorist in the mind of an Amerikan.  Remains to be seen how his Trumpness deals with this.

Title: Trump deploys 2,000 additional National Guard troops to Los Angeles
Post by: RE on Jun 19, 2025, 05:55 AM
This is fabulously convenient logic.  Define immigration as a National Security issue.  Thus, anywhere there are immigrants, NS is threatened.  The POTUS is responsible for protecting the NS with military force if he deems it necessary.  Therefore, the POTUS can deploy the military anywhere there are immigrants, which is everywhere but concentrated in Blue state Big Shities.  Thus the POTUS can deploy military troops to patrol all Big Shities.  This is the precedent that Trumpolini is setting, and the SCOTUS probably will buy it.

I'll bet His Trumpness deploys a unit of Marines to protect every ICE detention center and dispatch office complete with the grunts carrying M-16s loaded with full metal jacket ammo to deter the graffiti artists.  Pretty soon the FSoA will look like  Chile under Pinochet.

Looks like FL is destined to be the Buchenwald of the FSoA.  They don't even need Gas Chambers and Ovens.  Just feed the immigrants to the alligators.  Or alternatively, deport them to a war zone.

Together, this should pretty effectively shut down the inflow of refugees, since I doubt many want to risk ending up even worse off then they are in their home countries.  Gonna be pretty hard to find dishwashers and lettuce pickers though.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement is using a new mobile phone app that can identify someone based on their fingerprints or face by simply pointing a smartphone camera at them. The underlying system used for the facial recognition component of the app is ordinarily used when people enter or exit the U.S. Now, that system is being used inside the U.S. by ICE to identify people in the field.

The news highlights the Trump administration's growing use of sophisticated technology for its mass deportation efforts and ICE's enforcement of its arrest quotas. The document also shows how biometric systems built for one reason can be repurposed for another, a constant fear and critique from civil liberties proponents of facial recognition tools.

"Face recognition technology is notoriously unreliable, frequently generating false matches and resulting in a number of known wrongful arrests across the country. Immigration agents relying on this technology to try to identify people on the street is a recipe for disaster.

Congress has never authorized DHS to use face recognition technology in this way, and the agency should shut this dangerous experiment down," Nathan Freed Wessler, deputy director of the American Civil Liberties Union's Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project, told 404 Media in an email (https://www.404media.co/ice-is-using-a-new-facial-recognition-app-to-identify-people-leaked-emails-show/).

First Amendment advocates say they've never seen freedom of speech under attack the way it has been in Trump's second term.

Trump has threatened Democratic members of Congress with investigation for criticizing conservatives, pulled federal grants that include language it opposes, sanctioned law firms that represent Trump's political opponents and arrested the organizer of student protests that Trump criticized as "anti-Semitic, and anti-American.

And that is what we know about.  What the Heritage Foundation is doing is far more than what we know about.

Title: Trump’s Budget Just Passed the Senate. Brace for a Massive Increase in ICE Raids.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will have a budget for more officers than the FBI. The nation's immigration detention centers will have more funding than the federal Bureau of Prisons.

Remember also, the FSoA ALREADY incarcerates more people than Stalin did in Russia.  It's already the biggest prison system the world has ever seen.

"It is hard for people to imagine what immigration enforcement is going to look like once all this money goes.  It already looks really bad and scary, like we're turning into a police state and surveillance state. The orders of magnitude are going to be multiplied."

Not hard for me to imagine.   Just think of the Gestapo in Casablanca in 1942, but worse.

Title: What American Fascism Would Look Like
Post by: K-Dog on Jul 04, 2025, 03:19 PM
I wish you were exaggerating.  I know you are not.

How was an entire people groomed to serve one of the most evil regimes of modern history.  What happened in those first few years.  How did 'they' do it.

There is history on the subject.

"Volksgemeinschaft is a German term meaning "people's community" or "national community," which was popularized by the Nazi Party to promote a racially unified society where individual interests were subordinate to the collective interests of the nation. This concept aimed to eliminate social divisions and create a sense of unity among the German people, while excluding those deemed "undesirable" based on race or ideology."

The Quiet Revolution: How the Nazis Transformed German Society Before the Holocaust Began

When Adolf Hitler rose to power in 1933, Germany did not suddenly plunge into the horror we now associate with the Nazi regime. Instead, the transformation was slow, calculated, and disturbingly quiet. In those first few years, Hitler did not lead with antisemitic vitriol. Instead, he orchestrated a broad cultural and political realignment under the guise of restoring national pride, economic order, and unity. This calculated restraint helped normalize Nazi ideology, paving the way for later atrocities.

At the heart of this effort was the concept of Volksgemeinschaft — a word meaning "people's community." On the surface, it evoked images of unity, equality, and shared purpose. In a nation wounded by the Treaty of Versailles, economic depression, and political chaos, it was a seductive promise. But the term had a darker intent: to construct a society defined not just by unity, but by exclusion — to separate the so-called "true Germans" from those deemed racially or ideologically impure.

Yet contrary to Nazi propaganda, the average German in 1933 did not harbor violent antisemitic sentiments. Jews were neighbors, shopkeepers, veterans of World War I. Many Germans saw no reason to turn against them. Hitler, ever the tactician, quickly realized this and temporarily downplayed his rhetoric against Jews. Public references to antisemitism faded. The focus shifted instead to economic recovery, infrastructure projects like the Autobahn, and job creation — all designed to win trust and gratitude.

This period was critical. With the Jews out of the immediate spotlight, the Nazis began social engineering from the inside out: reorganizing education, rewriting textbooks, infiltrating youth organizations, and purging civil institutions of dissent. People were rewarded for conformity, and encouraged to report neighbors who spoke against the regime. It wasn't hatred that took root — it was obedience.

This subtle reshaping of moral and social norms set the stage for what would later come. After the population had internalized the logic of obedience to the state, exclusion of the "other", and sacrifice of individual will for national unity, it was easy to activate hatred. A few zealots could be counted on to lead the charge.  Break shop windows, burn synagogues, and assault Jewish citizens.  Once that spell of normalcy was broken, bystanders followed. Once socially conditioned, they felt nothing wrong with believing and doing what they were told.

By the time the Nazis resumed their antisemitic campaign in 1935 with the Nuremberg Laws, their moral groundwork had been laid. The German people had been reshaped into passive participants for a regime that demanded loyalty above conscience.  Obedience for the public good.  Morals carefully designed to manipulate a population.

The first quiet years, are essential to understanding the Nazi rise. It wasn't rage that made the rise possible. It was manipulation, gradualism, and a deliberate erosion of independent thought. The chilling lesson is that they succeeded.

Denying that America is going Fascist is academic.  The signs are there.

We do not have armed gangs roaming the streets, instead we have substitutes that the Austrian painter/bully who sketched the design for the 'Peoples Car' could not afford.  Fascists make promises.  Then when they can't deliver, they blame somebody else.  Done artfully the public then follows their leader into doom.

Who will be the next scapegoat?  How artfully will it be done?

This one is from the Holocaust Museum.  Not quite as detailed, it covers more ground than the other.  A view from a higher altitude.

Basically, combined with the huge budget being dedicated to hiring new Gestapo to staff the ICE legion of masked thugs, absolutely anyone can be desaperecido on a whim, with virtually no recourse.  Not just by order from Trumpolini or by mistake, but by any ICE agent with a grudge or desire to get rid of somebody.  Say he has the hots for your wife.  He and his team can drop in at your job, whisk you to the airport and before the day is out you're standing on the side of the road in cartel country in Mexico or a war zone in Sudan.

Drop a comment on Instagram criticizing Israel or a joke about his his mental acuity goes viral,  12 hours later you're in Nigeria with no passport and an empty wallet.

Trump makes Stalin  and ICE makes the KGB look like amateurs.
