Simon has been making the rounds of all the social media spots as of late. I found one of his videos on Reddit along with K. Hester and Iver Lofing, one a McPherson follower I believe, and Iver has been around peak oil forever. He lost his bid to get elected to the Maine state congress though, hasn't commented on whether or not he was bummed by that or not.

Although just recently released, the video was recorded over a year ago, according to the Great Simplification web site.

Michaux did some great work on the resources required for "The Renewable Transition" but seems to now be negotiating with reality to retain some semblance of a technological civilisation.

It is difficult for untenured academics in European backwaters to just go full blown doomer and not have....issues... related to career advancement, credibility, interesting questions on next job position sought and whatnot. Have you ever noticed that when peak oil doom hit more than a quarter century ago that most credible "experts" were generally older, retired, safely academic or approached the topic without that rabid feel to their excited utterances that began hppening later, or consultants looking for some name recognition traction, etc etc.

Nate appears less devout than he did with peak oil way back when, has morphed more into the Tainter model of "serious" doomer, with only occasional forays into the older and/or discredited contingent. And that has been pod cast stuff, his published works don't tend to have the same flavor.

Simon noticeably doesn't talk about his 9/11 beliefs on any of his recent pod interviews either, a quite interesting turn of events from his Facebook conversation with fellow...enthusiasts.
