Yet another reason the middle class dream is becoming unaffordable. Besides the rising cost of the McMansion and upward spiraling interest rates on the mortgages, increasing cost of insurance against climate related disasters makes the final price of your monthly nut so high that even a modest McMansion in the states in flyover country where cost of living was lower have become unaffordable. These same states are the ones regularly bombarded with tornados and baseball size hail.
I do take issue with one claim made at the end of this article though.
