In principle I agree with you, but in this case, the devil is in the details.  The NY AG can't look like shhe is wweak or being played, but at the same time the demodopes don't want it to look like it's a political witchhunt and they're trying to use The Donald's financial woes to steal the election.  Which is of course what they are trying to do, because they are too stupid and corrupt themselves to win it honestly.

Also, while I doubt His Royal Corruptness will end up Homeless living in a tent on Skid Row, he's such a public figure that if he did have his corporate self liquidated in bankruptcy, in a couple of years if he's still flying around in his Private Jet and sipping Margueritas in Mar-a-lago, I would think that would be pretty embarassing for the Demodopes, as well as the legal system.  I mean sure, we've come to accept that rich criminals never really get punished, but usually they fade into obscurity.  The Donald is too much of a narcissist to drop out of the limelight, at least until he is dead.
