Quote from: Goldernen Oxernen on Apr 15, 2025, 09:00 PMIf there is one thing I'm certain of, Milgram's experiment on obedience explains the already corrupt system of governance in place. In poor countries, bribes are paid directly to get anything done, wheras our system has the bribery is in the salary. This confused me. I am paid a salary. What part of my salary has to do with bribery?
Quote from: Goldernen OxernenPolice, regulatory bodies, tribunals and appeals, as well as the Courts are corrupt. After a recent exercise as a juror on a murder trial for a week, and having seen nothing that looked anything like corruption, if it is everywhere, how did I miss it? Witnesses testified, judges read some pretty expected rules, 12 common folk sat down at a table and said "SHIT!! did that guy kill that dude or what!" and that was about it.
Quote from: author=Goldernen Oxernen[/quoteServile sycophant statists remain gormlessly oblivious.....Okay, now who are you referring to? Doomers, public servants, researchers, I mean this category looks like it might include just about everyone using money, and thereby a part of the current system.
As far as oblivious...sometimes it is a good thing. Can you imagine the millions of manhours wasted worrying about peak oil circa 2005 or so? Two decades of people stocking up on toilet paper and guns, buying a hunting cabin, wanting to go "back to the land" and missing 2 decades of economic expansion in the US...the oblivous got that one right. So did those oblivious to the Mayan Calendar stunt. Or Yellowstone exploding...PLANET X!!
Perhaps oblivious to certain concepts is an advantage? Although being educated also working in dodging all that nonsense as well.
