Quote from: RE on Jul 12, 2023, 03:17 AMI don't have the same interests as when I was 18.  I don't have different interests either.  I no longer have interests. lol.

Well, ok, but admittedly you are more limited than in the past, and when limited, an interest can pass by. Like me, bum knee, would like to ski....but not about to ever.

Quote from: REFor lack of a better word, what I have now in place of interests are bemusements, the things around me which baffle me.  Generally these things are related to human behavior or beliefs people have which defy reason or common sense and sometimes don't even have any purpose.
YES!!! EXACTLY RIGHT!!!! DAMN has this been happening to me the day I discovered peak oil. Human beliefs that deny reason, common sense, hell SCIENCE!

Quote from: RE1) Like an Andy Warhol painting of a soup can being sold for millions.
2)Or Air Jordan sneakers selling on ebay for 1000s, when you can buy equally good sneakers without the name brand for a couple of hundred and quite good ones for $50.
3)Why do people like rap music or Sylvester Stallone movies?  Why do they care about Kim Kardashian's divorce?

    1) Because people with money need to make up stuff to pretend is important? Anyone can buy matching Mercedes Benz to show off, but lets see who can bid up a silly painting to the stratosphere!
    2) See #1.
    3) REALLY good bemusement. I like Stallone movies, some of them anyway, because they had underdog type hero themes. I have gotten over them since then as they became repetitive. Or any celeb and what dumbshit they are involved in any given week.

Not me. Once a bemusement has been settled (people are stupid, repetitive movies are repetitive etc etc) I move along. Bemusement at peak oil amd its "experts" went way beyond just being bemused. It was absolute confusion on my part, no different than if Colin Campbell had declared 2+2=5 back in 1990 with great fanfare when he started the ball rolling, marking the beginning of the modern peak oil era.
