QuoteOH! I thought he was referring to the MIB sneaking in and mysteriously making commentary they didn't like disappear.

And my point of view is that your reference is to MIB is mocking.

Well, I got the idea from you, always mentioning that they were responsible for various database hiccups. What I found....interesting.....about that idea is that such folks would give a rats behind about some disgruntled citizens in general, particularly when they come in groups of 2-4-6 or so.

Quote from: K-DogYou wish to claim such things do not, and have not happen here.
I could care less. YOU are the one claiming they DO happen, not me. I'm just going with the flow. Just because I don't have a CLUE why it would be true doesn't mean you are making it up.

My experience with the MIB, and their minions, is that they were terribly interested in peak oil ideas and analysis (both mine and my take on that of others)...once upon a time. Like a decade or more back now. My "let me tell you about peak oil" powerpoint from back then was a hit across about 3 years for both government flunkies and some interesting talks with the geoscience folks at US major oil companies.

Had a great time with the USGS and EIA folks, always liked the smart groups with real expertise and knowledge rather than just the usual government bureaucrats just looking for background. Jocularity went over REAL well with the folks with expertise. Not so much with the enthusiasts looking for a good apocalypse trigger.

Quote from: K-DogYou have done it in this actual post by your use of the word 'mysteriously'.  But there is nothing mysterious about being gang-stalked.

Indeed! When I used to take on an entire website, gang stalking was certainly envogue whenever I moved from site to site!

Quote from: K-DogIt up in your face and terrifying.  There is nothing mysterious about having posts deleted.
There certainly was mystery, rather than terror, when my entire HISTORY of postings were being wiped out. Until the mods admitted it anyway. No terror of course, just "moderator with the power of God thing". You could think of the MIB just like them? Doing what they do, like forum moderators do to folks who know more about a topic then they do when they did it to me.

Was that Kuntslers troll farm you are referring to or another one?

Quote from: TDoS on Jan 01, 2026, 07:52 AMI can get some economists rolling in the aisles with old peak oil stories.

Economists aren't noted for having much of a sense of humor either.  When I imagine you and and economist rolling on the floor laughing about a peak oiler joke it's like imagining Epstein and Trump laughing about a joke about teaching jailbait to suck cock.  I'm sure with their sense of humor and circumstances they find it hilarious.  That doesn't mean it's really funny.  At least here so far in all the years you have beeen posting, I can honestly say I have never found a single comment I could qualify as funny.  So if you're trying to be jocular, you're not succeeding with anyone here other than yourself.

Hey Jeff, how many Lolita's do you screw to change a lightbulb?

Depends on the economist I suppose. Some of them are wonderfully creative and jocular and a blast. Others are much more straight laced, more like mathematicians. Can be terribly boring. Of course, I've also cavorted with mathematicians that loved economics and could fight with wild enthusiasm and vigor across the spectrum of their expertise. Both educating and a riot to watch.

I am not speaking on what they "noted" for, but rather some 30 years of having to deal with them.

Mike Lynch was the only one you could really get that size of yuck-it-up fest going with. He was a riot. And it wasn't as you've catagorized it at all, just a couple of professionals with similar interests spitting out our personal golden oldies when dealing with the peakers and their interesting.....misunderstandings....of anything oil related. Or economics. Or the geosciences. Or drilling wells, producing oil, selling it, the oil and gas markets and stuff like that.

Depends on their familiarty with the topic mostly.

Of course you wouldn't. Almost no one who has fallen for a con job laughs about it after the fact.

Sounds hilarious. 😒🙄  Lemme know when he gets booked at the Anchorage Improv.  I'll be sure to miss it.

Well, you do have to be well grounded in peak oil from all sides, not just the supporter positions. Then you can pick out the most egregious examples of pro and con and once a couple of talkative guys get rolling, folks like Mason Inman can then decide what might be of use for their book. You just need to be at the conferences where all these folks bump into each other, and then throw in someone looking for a source of info. Mason was looking for serious stuff of course, and background information, but it was great fun. And if you can get Mason to giggle along with you...well....you must have SOME decent material for the right audience.

RE

Well sure you might miss it, the budget for hauling the inmates to random events can't be that large I imagine. Unless it is close by and you can EV yourself to it in reasonable weather? Last time I was in Anchorage I had a rental Jeep to run around in, makes it easier to get to Seward and other cool places. Beautiful state. The wife probably won't let me drive there from here again....she has requested I fly most distances now and then get a rental and run around instead of doing LRPs in my Lincoln.
