Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent insists China is far more reliant on the U.S. than vice-versa, and thus has no choice but to blink first.

Not surprisingly, Trump & Co understanding of the Chinese couldn't possibly be more wrong.  He thinks because China exports 3X as much to the FSoA as we do to them, THEY are more dependent on the trade so will "blink" first.  WRONG!  The CCP will find something else for 10M unemployed factory workers to do.  They can last a lot longer than the MAGA Konsumer can last with empty shelves at Wally World.

So far a 35% reduction in ships, and the last ones to make port before the tariffs are docking now.  Give it 2 weeks and J6P will start grumbling.  In a month they'll be screaming.  2 months they'll be on the floor, writhing in pain from shopping withdrawal and BEGGING for it to end.

Somehow, I don't think even the MAGAotts are dumb enough to buy him blaming Biden. lol.

Interesting. So the country that some 15 years ago was so inept it was going to be toast, according to internet experts, will continue to work their way around substantial problems in the future, caused by a superpower like the US no less, and continue to move forward and advance their cause because of superior economics and politics and whatnot. How things change.

RE

We have been through this.  China is still toast.  Just with the Trumpenator, the FSoA is toast first.

Without a timeframe involved, EVERTYTHING is toast. Increasing entropy is the general rule.

But when the timeframe for "toast" was being discussed in real time in the past, well now you get the entertainment value of the internet with nothing but the passage of a little time.

Could be the "toastiness" of China in the past (or now...not so much), or the peak oils claimed or occurred since 1990. Although that one has grown awful quiet since it happened 7 years ago....and nobody seems to have noticed.

The good old days...and this from the most famous internet perveyor, quoted in Congress, turned his fame into an Amazon store revenue stream, an unemployed ambulance chaser since turned astrologist and then California substitute school teacher....

I recommend getting a copy of his book. And then compare what this famous peak oiler said to reality.
