Central Europe sizzles as heat records are smashed in Switzerland, Denmark and Czech Republic

Unusually high temperatures were recorded even in the Nordic countries not known for sweltering summers. Denmark’s Meteorological Institute reported a record 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit in Ødum north of Aarhus — the warmest day since records there began in 1874.

The Eurotrash are cooking!  And it's not even the hottest part of Summer yet!  Maybe they can relocate Europe to Greenland.

Kagan Puts Trump's Most Inflammatory Remarks About Haitians Into Supreme Court Record

Justice Elena Kagan put President Donald Trump's most racist and inflammatory remarks over the last decade about Haitians into permanent record Thursday, blasting her conservative colleagues on the bench for refusing to "put them in print."

Scathing dissent unravels Supreme Court claim Trump wasn't racial using his own remarks

In her dissent from one of the Thursday Supreme Court decisions on immigrant rights, Justice Elena Kagan made sure Donald Trump’s litany of racist remarks would be a forever part of the court’s historical record.

Welcome Bags Planned for White South African Refugees

“They will get an Android tablet, an American flag and copies of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. They will also receive a packet of literature that provides a sanitized, Trump-approved view of American and South African history, one that criticizes racial equity and civil rights laws and promotes claims of discrimination against white people.”

People entranced by Trump do not think he is racist.  I dream they perish in a puff of smoke.  AI has more consciousness than these people.

Iran pushes plan to charge billions for Strait of Hormuz management as Trump denies fee scheme

Iran's negotiations over Hormuz management would give Tehran unprecedented control over a chokepoint through which 20 percent of global oil normally flows. The regime is examining international models, including Turkey's Dardanelles arrangement and the Malacca Straits Patrol, to justify the arrangement.

Now back to our regularly scheduled war.

Tech is always to the rescue / The big AI revolution

Quote from: K-Dog on Jun 24, 2026, 05:54 AMDan Jarvie posted AI slop in the 'first person', so I bounced him along with the last two fake five eye Russian Trolls as being fake.

They may be replacing TDos with AI.

Who is Dan Jarvie? And TDoS is still TDos. He wrote a book don't you know, after telling the Austin City Council that the world was ending because of that peak oily stuff. I wonder if that video is still around?

Such is the hope of its supporters anyway. During the last national elections folks seemed to be more interested in fascism. Mandami appears to be pitching his verwion of it pretty well. I suppose, on the grounds that if the Republicrats can lean farther right, the Democans can try leaning farther left. RE can have his prior protein rations restored, and you can get cheaper health care maybe, and higher taxes because you own property that can't be hidden or moved very easily. Always hated the idea of buying a house for that reason, if more closely resembles a financial anchor.

You could see the end of the true "Personal Computer" when the Netbooks, Tablets, Smartphones and Cloud Computing took off.  99% of people just use a computer for communications and entertainment.  They don't need or care about actual computing power, except for the Graphics card of course.  It's actually a little surprising you can still DIY build at all.

Centralization with Dumb Terminals is the Rentier model, when software disappeared fromm Best Buy, I knew the whole thing was Doomed.  The net has turned to garbage anyhow, so as a tech that once held the potential for freeing and uplifting humanity, it has turned into an epic failure.

Apple Raises Mac and iPad Prices Up to $300: iPhone 18 May Cost Even More This Fall

MacBook and iPad prices rose up to $300 Thursday; the structural memory shortage means no quick fix.

I have the parts for my new computer, and am in the process of bringing it up.  The memory I bought has gone up $700 in price from when I bought it a month ago.  I paid triple the old price then.  I have 128 GB.  The hard drives (4) also cost a small fortune.  Believe it or not, computer retailers are not trying to raise prices.  They are only passing on what they have to.  The problem is at the top.

AI has killed the home computer hobby.  Rolling your own is becoming a thing of the past.  If you have a mind for conspiracy and think perhaps killing the home computer industry so corporations and Tech Broligarchs have total control over AI is a plan.

You may be right.

It makes me wish America were not so docile.

Less Than A Year After The Last Price Hike, Xbox Is Increasing The Price Of All Of Its Consoles Once Again

It's becoming increasingly expensive to be a gamer these days, whether it's the rising cost of video games as a whole, or Valve trying to swindle you out of over $1,000 for a not very good PC. Everything is increasing in price.

All citizens will have are dumb terminals that listen to everything you say, and they will watch what you do.  Isn't there a book about that?

RAM price hikes: the latest on the global memory shortage

Random access memory, or RAM, is in just about every piece of technology we use. But it’s also the technology that AI companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Meta are using to power the servers in their massive data centers.

Not only is it ironic, it is also really fucked up considering the source.  Somebody like this you would think be knowing.

Tom Nichols

Tom Nichols is a staff writer at The Atlantic and a contributor to the Atlantic Daily newsletter. He is a professor emeritus of national-security affairs at the U.S. Naval War College, where he taught for 25 years, and an instructor at the Harvard Extension School. He has served as a legislative aide in the Massachusetts House and the U.S. Senate. He writes about international security, nuclear weapons, Russia, and the challenges to democracy in the United States and around the world—along with occasional contrarian views on popular culture. His books include The Death of Expertise and Our Own Worst Enemy: The Assault From Within on Modern Democracy. He is also a five-time undefeated Jeopardy champion.

Goes to show there are different kinds of intelligence.  And bias.  Many kinds of that, everybody has a bias.
