A bit of a blanket statement but I'll go with it. I completely agree. And those who specialize in quantifying the uncertainty in...well...just about everything, I will often not qualify what I say with my first impression of uncertainty.

I only know that folks expressing absolute certainty, outside of maybe theoretical physics (and not always then) are rarely correct. As absolute certainty is a high bar, particularly when it comes to the "why" of a thing.

So sure...the shooter might have had a fascination with Charlie's speaking ability, and decided that shooting him in the throat area made some kind of sense, "shutting him up" being the goal. But if the goal is to kill someone, it isn't your target. As the helpful SEAL guy on TV this morning mentioned, and was my initial hunch as well, he missed bigly. I had already mentioned my agreement with that opinion here before he came along and backed me up later. The wife is watching this in real time, she is fascinated by it.

So no, until some more evidence comes out I will no more assume that AssHatInCharge knows much about anything other than who/what he WANTS to blame, as opposed to what actually was to blame. Two different things.

I don't disagree that stupid people say stupid shit sometimes because they are... stupid. And other times because they want to turn it to their own ends to make their own points. I only note that one white guy seems to be quite a bit more attention than yet another school shooting. American priorities.....pretty screwed up regardless of political bent.
