The Janissary Corps, once the elite slave-soldiers of the Sultan, now operated under a new, chillingly efficient directorate: the Office of Imperial Continuity and Enforcement, or I.C.E.

Its banner, a crescent moon encircling the image of their ICE Barbie wearing her cowboy hat.  Denied hotel space these banners, flew over fortified tents in vacant lots scattered along the re-conquered Mississippi River.

The processing of protesters was swift. The able-bodied were loaded onto a waiting, windowless, armored wagon. They would be taken to a regional Assessment & Holding Facility, where they'd be held in chain-link pens under floodlights, awaiting transportation.  Sweet-sixteen girls to the Florida harem.  Those unable to fund a legal defense to newly established agricultural work battalions.

Problem cases shipped to Khanates unknown.  The sexually confused given bus tickets to a west coast city of their choice.

There was a badge. There was a process. There was a form for everything.  No one called it fascism. They called it enforcement.

It was lawful. It was funded. It was renewed by Congress.
