Fusion startup Helion hits blistering temps as it races toward 2028 deadline
Fusion energy startup Helion announced Friday that it has hit a key milestone in its quest for fusion power. Plasmas inside the company's Polaris prototype reactor have reached 150 million degrees Celsius, three-quarters of the way toward what the company thinks it will need to operate a commercial fusion power plant.
Wake me up when fusion power starts regenerating topsoil. If it works there will be abundant cheap energy for AI, but not for you. Jevons paradox will go nuclear as capitalism invents new ways to maintain and widen class differences.
But this is some cool shit I got to admit. Science makes this dog drool. But the thing is, I see the bigger picture. How technology is used. How it feedbacks on human behavior. Tech nerds that can see the bigger picture are very rare. I am a very special dog.
Very good driver too.
