Well, good thing that high frequency of low or insignificant magnitudes doesn't seem to bother the species much. I mean, we whine and bitch about it and everything, but we can't even get a good insitu population decrease rolling yet.

Between peak oils and BOE's and China being toast and Toyota going bankrupt, it is amazing that enough society exists that useless eaters aren't just pitched into meat grinders to upsize the protein content of soylent green the rest of us have to eat. Oh wait! All those 5 years events haven't even caused THAT to happen yet.

My bet is personal doom before general collapse...as usual. It hasn't let me down yet!

Always possible. But in a ranking of the all the breathless leadup to past dooms going back, and discredited within, the past half century, a near illiterate convicted felon screwing with civil liberties and trying to tank the US economy is just a bump in the road, seems like.

Everyone here seems fairly well insulated (i.e. not as dependent on the job market as Joe Average) frommost things short of hyperinflation. That wrecks everybody.
