It is not just Energy and it is not just Oil.  Human behavior is involved.
And stupidity will be dealt with accordingly.

You are retired. Is someone standing over you with a bullwhip requiring you to do this for your audience of 2?

I'm going to seal cracks in the concrete of the driveway before todays NFL game. Took the motorcycle for a ride yesterday to try out the new grips and crampbuster combination. Deactivated the blower motor in the Lincoln by pulling its fuse until I can get a new resistor and motor assembly installed. Made a mistake by not using a new compression gasket on last oil change on one of the Nissans, had to drain oil, put in new compression gasket, put oil back in. Helping the wife install some interesting mountain vista art on the big unadorned wall in the living room.

YOU need a break from a voluntary, could wait for 6 months if you wanted to thing?

Next weekend after the motorcycle gets its new front tire and steering head bearings I put new front brake pads on it. Take it for a full fuel tank ride afterwards to see how it works over a steady interstate ride in preparation for next summers adventures that have NOTHING to do with puttering around in front of a keyboard.

There is a thing called "life" that some people subscribe to. And other than when someone is paying me to sit in front of a computer and deliver results they can't get elsewhere, I'd rather be doing that.

Finding your way around 300,000 lines of code to make the changes I obviously am making requires determination, dedication, discipline, and a break to recharge drained resources.

It is insulting to call someone retired when you know they have a job.

Indeed. But that doesn't answer my question. If no one is requiring this of you, that which is obviously hard work, then the most likely explanation is...you do it for fun? Sort of like the challenge of cross word puzzles and whatnot to keep the mind busy?

Depends on how thin someone's skin is I imagine. However, I understand the difference between retired, and "retired". I also understand the difference between a job and a career. It is certainly possible for a professional to be retired from their career, and have a job on the side. So someone with the right qualifications can be both.

I do not define people in terms of their careers.  Humans are more than walking LinkedIn profiles.

Neither do I. Nor their job.

How do you define people AI Fantasy Girl?

Indeed. Humans are the sum of the choices they have made through time, in combination with happenstance and innate capabilities. Why would an AI think LinkedIn profiles have anything to do with being human?

An interesting comment from you. How long have you been worrying about some world ending cataclysm or another now? Quarter century for sure....how far back was it when you first decided some end or another was right around the corner? ROE was like a 90's alt.news doomer site wasn't it?

Never worried about the world ending.  Been concerned with the progress of industrial civilization collapse for 18 years.
