Forget the Container ships using Bunker Fuel.  It's the damn Bike Lanes driving up the CO2 in the atmosphere!

What would Greta say?

The Richmond-San Rafael Bridge has a total length of approximately 5.5 miles (8.8 kilometers).  A healthy adult will need an hour and a half to walk that far.  A bicycle ride across the bridge would also not be an easy trip.  The winds could be trouble.

As far as the residents of Richmond-San Rafael go.  F them!  The bridge goes over open water and has been there longer than they have been alive.

Should the bike lane be eliminated?  If it is not used, yes.

* how much bunker fuel does it take to ship a bicycle from China?.  What about the cardboard the bikes ship in, and what about the plastic bags used for  parts inside the box.  How many petrocalories does a bicyclist use in a half hour ride across a bridge?

An average bicycle rider on a daily commute could typically need about this many.    I am not pulling this number outa ma ass.  It took research to come up with a reasonable number of Big Macs to provide the energy.  I needed to round up a little to get two, but a bicyclist will also need to stay warm.  And that will certainly take more calories than riding across in a metal box.  I am justified by that, and by considering that everyone does not live at the ends of the bridge.

How many do the bicycle lanes use a day?
