US air strikes won't fix Nigeria's security crisis but could make it worse

After reading the article the poor S.O.B.s on the ground where the bombs fell have a few things in common with Venezuelan fishermen. 

Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar says Abuja (capital city) provided the US with intelligence ahead of the Christmas Day strike.  However the ISIL people are hundreds of miles away in Borno.  And the missile strikes were in Sokoto.  600 miles away.

The tea leaves tell me that powerful men in Nigeria had the US kill a few enemies in an area characterized by social breakdown and banditry, and not ISIS, ISIL, or whatever religious strife that is 600 miles away.  In return for doing something financial for the orange pinhead we can be sure.

Is Lakurawa the emerging face of terror in the Sahel?

A group known as Lakurawa is terrorising Nigerian residents along the country's border with Niger.



* The embeddedness of the group in the communities means that there can be no successful military action against them without hitting unwanted civilian casualties.

* It is unlikely that the insecurity in Nigeria will end soon.

But it gave the department of war something to do.  Kissed Nigerian government ass too.  Killed some people.

And probably did not accomplish a god-damn thing.
