You had me worried for a second.  Then I read the article.  The author should be shot.

This is an outright lie.

QuoteRather than running out of oil and gas, economically recoverable reserves keep growing, and because of carbon recapture and other new technologies, harmful emissions will soon be almost eliminated.

I've been reluctant to advocate for the shooting of idiots until now.  I have a live and let live attitude.  But 'idiots' have no sense of shame or any inkling that their out of reality bullshit claims are to be a source of pain and suffering the idiots can't imagine.  But since they figure they will be a hundred years old before money can't buy them love, they do not give two shits.

Shooting is too good for them. Seriously.  Who is this motherfucking asshole?!  Lets see what kind of white bread this piece of shit is!

Richard W. Rahn is a senior fellow at the Cato Institute and chairman of the Institute for Global Economic Growth.

And he is so stuck on himself that lying is fine with him.  Any means to an end to ensure his demographic maintains sin as usual.

Fuck future generations, the world belongs to me me me.  My suit wearing cronies and me.

If you are a janitor who smokes a fat doobie and watches You Tube all day you do not need the same political rights as Elon Musk.  Musk knows what to do with stuff and you don't.

Richard W. Rahn agrees.  He was the vice president and chief economist of the United States Chamber of Commerce during the Reagan administration and remains a staunch advocate of supply-side economics, small government, and classical liberalism.

*  The nimrod started with this "For decades, self-proclaimed environmentalists and their power-seeking political and media allies have been demanding the end of the use of fossil fuels — all in the name of saving the planet."  Self-proclaimed environmentalists ----------------- most of whom have PHDs.

The only thing Richard has right is this: "power-seeking political and media allies"  Richard knows his demographic has all the power.  Of course he got that part right.  It is not something Richard feels the need to lie about.  Having power gets him off.  Thus the dig.

Probably had his eye poked out by a disgruntled environmentalist.

I wonder if the charcoal is produced locally or imported?  Gotta wonder about how this has affected the death rate also, with tropical humidity and temperatures and virtually no A/C?  So far though, they haven't reported food shortages despite the fact fuel shortages for tractors and trucks would affect food production and distribution.

I also wonder about migration and refugees?  I'd expect more boat people hitting Miami Beach, but if it's happening it's not being reported.

Cubans turn to cooking with charcoal as energy crisis worsens

No newz yet on what caused it.  Company says they'll have it back in 6 hours, so probably not turning into Cuba yet.

Power outage hits large parts of Spain and Portugal

Has anyone ever heard of this "rare" phenoomenon"? A week to fix it?

'Rare atmospheric phenomenon' behind outage and disruption could last a week, Portuguese operator says

We've just heard from REN, Portugal's grid operator.

It claims the outage that's affected Portugal was caused by a fault in the Spanish electricity grid, related to a "rare atmospheric phenomenon".

REN says that, due to extreme temperature variations in Spain, there were "anomalous oscillations" in very high-voltage lines.

It says this is known as "induced atmospheric variation", which in turn led to oscillations which caused synchronisation failures between systems.

That led to successive disturbances across the interconnected European network, it adds.

It also says that given the complexity of the issue, it could take up to a week for the network to fully normalise again.

Nah.  Just another of those once in 500 year events that seem to come once every 5 years nowadays.

Well, good thing that high frequency of low or insignificant magnitudes doesn't seem to bother the species much. I mean, we whine and bitch about it and everything, but we can't even get a good insitu population decrease rolling yet.

Between peak oils and BOE's and China being toast and Toyota going bankrupt, it is amazing that enough society exists that useless eaters aren't just pitched into meat grinders to upsize the protein content of soylent green the rest of us have to eat. Oh wait! All those 5 years events haven't even caused THAT to happen yet.

My bet is personal doom before general collapse...as usual. It hasn't let me down yet!

Always possible. But in a ranking of the all the breathless leadup to past dooms going back, and discredited within, the past half century, a near illiterate convicted felon screwing with civil liberties and trying to tank the US economy is just a bump in the road, seems like.

Everyone here seems fairly well insulated (i.e. not as dependent on the job market as Joe Average) frommost things short of hyperinflation. That wrecks everybody.

Not Cuba yet though. 🙄
