Title: Propaganda By The Deed & The Death of a Useless Eater with a Huge Appetite.
Post by: K-Dog on Dec 05, 2024, 10:35 AM
OF WHAT DO THE MASSES CONSIST? Wage slaves who toil endlessly. They make their way home after they are beaten down by a minimum wage job, often more than one job.  Exhausted they have little inclination to read and understand their condition.  Weary and solated from each other they sleep, devoting the little free time they have to their family.

Is there a way of grabbing these people's attention, of showing them how the system cheats them?

(https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.gifer.com%2F4i5S.gif&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=79da75b9756c5a0f921aafc98f0d7d2f5374cbb41733d428c1b4d6d000c80d72&ipo=images)

Propaganda by the deed.

Brian Thompson's net worth?  Lets start with that.

QuoteThompson's net worth was estimated at approximately $42.9 million as of February 16, 2024

At my retail wage I will have to work full time for 982 years without any time off to earn that much money as gross income.

I am smart enough NOT to have a Medicare Advantage Plan.  Such plans should be illegal.  I have supplemental insurance.  A night and day difference.

Lets be clear, Brian Thompson killed people.  Brian was the head of a company that denies vital care to millions of Americans all to take a profit out of their medicare checks.  Brian was the worst kind of useless eater.  Satan as a nice guy.

You can't make millions of dollars from health care without killing somebody and Brian was fine with his killing.  His business model is all about denying care so UHC can keep somebody's medicare payments.  In no way does United Healthcare do any work which adds value to a medicare payment.  Extracting value from payments is what they are about.

This was more justice than murder.  Vigilante justice.  But I hope the shooter is found soon.  Propaganda by the deed more often than not generates more oppression than it does greater enlightenment.

One trick Medicare Advantage plans play on people is to give subscribers five or ten bucks a month.  A kickback from their monthly medicare payment.  Money which should go to pay a medical bill somewhere.  Medicare Advantage people are all poor and getting 'free money' makes them think their Advantage plans care for them.  I know someone who thinks their plan is great.  Ten bucks a month makes all the difference to him.  He thinks he has a great plan.  He is also homeless and thinks he has a good life.

(https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/YbNuqeJA.vFDCDN7dwvKsw--/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTEyNDI7aD04Mjg-/https://media.zenfs.com/en/aol_ny_post_us_news_articles_123/a03d4f8838b784817914165d8c8d63c1)

Fuck the shooter and fuck Brian Thompson.  Fuck Medicare Advantage.  Medicare Advantage kills people and makes suits rich.  Companies who supply Medicare Advantage insurance spend millions a year on lobbyists to buy politicians to keep their evil bean feed going.

If the shooter did what hid did because a United Healthcare denial killed a family member I'll still say fuck him.  But if that is what happened, I'll also hope he is not caught.  But as Brian Thompson was worth millions no stone will be left un-turned.  The killer will be found.  Money is screaming in pain,  Brian was no faceless nobody like those shot dead every day in America and forgotten.  Brian was a hero of many a money pile.  These piles are now screaming for revenge.  In capitalism money collects in piles and money appoints guardians to keep the piles growing in a tautological form enforced by human action.

And Brian looks like he was such a nice guy.  The perfect guardian of a pile.  Satan with a smile.

Quote from: K-Dog on Dec 05, 2024, 10:35 AMBrian was the head of a company that denies vital care to millions of Americans all to take a profit out of their medicare checks.

This was the plot of a very good film based on the John Grisham novel The Rainmaaker.  Grisham is an ex-lawyer who specialized in novels about the legal profession.

The fact is the entire insurance industry is PACKED with people like Brian Thompson.  It is the  JOB of every insurance adjuster to find any reasons they can to deny a claim.  The insurance company makes money noy by paying out claims, but by denying them.    An insurance adjuster's success is measured by how many claims he denies.  The more denials, the greater the profit margin for the insurance company.

Since in the medical industry having your claim denied can have the ultimate consequence of being denied care and then death like in The Rainmaker, the smaller denials which are extremely common in aggregate cause even more pain.  My one experience with this was with an auto insurance policy I had on the one new car I ever owned, a Chevy Astro Van.  When the transmission quit on me before the 5 year warrantee was up, I put in the claim on it, which was denied.  The reason for the denial was because I didn't have records of my engine oil changes, which I did myself.  They didn't accept my log book, because I didn't keep the receipts for the oil I bought.  The thing is, engine oil changes have nothing to do with a transmission failure.

Anyhow, that mechanical problem came at a particularly bad time in my life right after my divorce when I was totally broke and the $1500 t fix the tranny was money I didn't have.  I was dependent on the van because I had 2 jobs and was in grad school and was driving daily between Manhattan and Stonybrook on LI and sleeping in the van between the jobs and school.  Fortunately my mom came to my rescue and I got the tranny fixed, but paying her back set me back months.  That was the last insurance policy I ever bought, except for required Liability insurance to register my various carz over the years.  Usually I would taker out a policy to register the car, then cancel it after.   I spent most of my 40 years as a licensed driver and car owner uninsured.  I only got caught once and got a $500 fine.  My insurance cost at the time was $50/mo, $600/year, so the fine was cheaper than a year's insurance.  Fortunately I was never in an accident where I got sued and needed liability coverage, in fact I never got in any accidents at all so I didn't have any damage bills of my own to pay either.  I didn't carry fire/theft either which isn't required.  Over the 40 years versus carrying a full coverage policy, I saved well over $100K.

I also got reamed by medical insurance thru my job.  I was fully covered with a $1500 Deductible when I first had issues with the circulation in my legs and needed the roto-rooter job on my femoral arteries.  Each leg cost $60K to get the arteries unclogged, $120K total. A few months later I started receiving bills from the hospital for around $11K.  I paid them $1500 (my deductible) and told them my insurance company was supposed to pay the rest.  However, since the insurance company did not pay it, when you go in for these things you are required to sign a paper that you will pay whatever insurance doesn't cover.  So my refusal to pay ruined my credit score, which I really didn't care much about because I buy nothing on credit.  However, it did cause me some minor difficulties renting apartments.  For somebody who wanted a mortgage or a car loan though, it would have been a killer.  So again, insurance profits are about how much they don't pay out, regardless what the policy promises.  They hire the best law firms whose job it is to write the fine print on the policy to leave as many ways as possible for them to weasel out of paying.  Even the most reputable big firms like Nationwide and John Hancock and Prudential do it.  Of course the discount companies like Geico and Liberty are even worse.

So, if you were to exact Vigilante Justice on insurance companies, between all the field adjusters and then office managers and the executives involved in denying claims, you would pretty much need to head to the corporate headquarters with an AR-15, Uzi or Kalishnikov and empty a dozen clips just to get a start on it.

What do you call a dozen insurance agents at the bottom of the ocean?  A good start.

Health Care is in the news.  That is good and now I hope the shooter gets away.  United Health care likely killed a family member but that is only a theory.  United Health Care denies one third of claims.  More than anyone other company.  But Brian Thompson was a POS for other reasons.

Brian Thompson: UnitedHealthcare CEO Was Facing Investigation and Was Allegedly Involved in Insider Trading When He Was Shot and Killed.

Last year, the DoJ launched an investigation into whether the UnitedHealthcare, under Thompson's leadership, was unfairly limiting competition and operating as a monopoly. In May, the City of Hollywood Firefighters' Pension Fund filed a lawsuit against Thompson and other UnitedHealth executives, alleging that the CEO hid information about a federal investigation before selling over 31 percent of his shares, earning $15.1 million.

The complaint mentioned that Thompson and other company leaders sold more than $117 million worth of UnitedHealth stock over a four-month period while they were aware of the federal antitrust probe. However, the development has not yet been made public.

In October, the California Public Employees' Retirement System, the largest public pension fund in the U.S., joined the lawsuit and filed an amended complaint seeking a jury trial against Thompson and other executives.

In February, The Wall Street Journal revealed that federal investigators had been interviewing individuals from the healthcare sector where UnitedHealth operates.

The inquiries focused on the relationships between UnitedHealthcare, the company's insurance division, and its Optum health services branch, which manages physician groups and other assets.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that the Department of Justice was investigating UnitedHealth's Medicare billing practices. The investigation aimed to determine whether physicians were exaggerating patient illnesses to improperly boost government payments.

Hit man or hero?  Right now we don't know.  Hero is going too far for me, but it sounds good.  Modern mythology has rhymes which seem to fit.

Note:  Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield halts anesthesia payment policy after backlash!

The health insurer planned to cap the length of time anesthesia can be covered during medical procedures in three states, prompting outrage.

Gail Koziara Boudreaux spent 20 years at Aetna, then in 2002 was named president of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois. She became the executive vice president for External Operations at Health Care Service Corporation, which encompasses Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois.

In May 2008 she became executive vice president of UnitedHealthcare at UnitedHealth Group. From January 2011 to November 2014, she served as the chief executive officer of UnitedHealthcare,[12] the biggest US insurer, serving 45 million customers with revenue of $120 billion.[13]

In 2015, months after stepping down from her post of CEO for UnitedHealthcare, Gail founded and became CEO of GKB Global Health, LLC, a healthcare strategy and business advisory firm.

Will reversing the anesthesia policy impact Gail's health?  Could be.  Perhaps Gail could start screaming for:

(https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ffiles.seiu888.org%2Ffiles%2F2019%2F04%2FMedicare-for-All-hirez.jpg&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=7eb7047cef7144d84ebb83a9e4b2788fa0f4cbfe49dce13dd304caac8467b8d9&ipo=images)

While I am waiting for hell to freeze over.  Gail would have more piece of mind, but she would not be where she is if she cared about other people.  There are no come to Jesus moments on her resume.  In 2023, Boudreaux became the first female elected chair of The Business Council, an association of top CEOs.

Do not flatter yourself that Gail has a road to Damascus moment. Gail must necessarily not have one.  The force of things keeps her earning millions while people die.  Conquest begets conquest.  Victory gives thirst for more victory.  Money will not put people in charge of money who will not do what money demands.  If that means your death then you must die.  Before the power of money you are nothing.

People do bad shit until they are stopped.  If people doing bad shit are not stopped they just keep doing more bad shit.  Doing bad shit just gets easier to do over time for people doing bad shit if doing bad shit has no consequences.  In the iron of men introspection is as rare as gold.  Few people are alive enough to question their own actions.  In particular if their actions are 'getting them off'.  In the heat of a moment reason rides wind and memory gets defective.  So if the harsh reality of a contradiction is not put in the face of someone doing bad shit no change is possible.

To some the death of Brian Thomson would be a road to Damascus moment.  But not to a CEO.  Masters of the universe do not consider a higher authority than themselves.

Researching this post I found this.  Info on CEOs.  And interesting website which could be useful in the future.

Mentioned in the video is that others have also posted Gail Koziara Boudreaux photo.

Gail gets her wealth from her work as a buisnesswoman and athlete who is president and Chief Executive Officer of Elevance Health.  Therefore, Gail has accumulated a decent fortune over the years.  Gail's net worth is $100 million.

I've always considered cops "the enemy".  I've never been helped by or had a positive interaction with a cop.  Every contact has been adversarial.  Mostly the 3 times I was stopped for a traffic violation.  The others were when smoking dope in the park or having an open beer.  Never actually got arrested just the threat of it was there.

I realize they probably keep the streets safer by arresting some violent offenders and bank robbers so that's helping me indirectly, but my direct interactions have always been negative.  I remember them from the days of student protests when we referred to them as Pigs, and today I see them as Gestapo, the enforcement division of the Fascist State.

I've had a couple of close family friends who were cops and OK people off duty though.  Never dealt with them when they were on the job.

I have had good and bad experiences.  For the most part I agree with you.  The wrong people often have the job.

If you or I had been offed the case would already be closed pending new info.  Yet in New York many cops are getting overtime.  Not the average ones, suit wearing detectives.  The budget is thrown away and no expense will be spared.  Failure to do so will show the average person how much power they COULD have.  That will not be allowed.

In the meantime:

Run away, run away from the pain, yeah, yeah yeah yeah
Run away, run away from the pain, yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Run away, run away, run, run away

In a book ending a protagonist may escape.

QuoteOn the screen, a man turned a corner. The Mechanical Hound rushed
forward into the viewer, suddenly. The helicopter light shot down a dozen
brilliant pillars that built a cage all about the man.
A voice cried, "There's Montag ! The search is done!"
The innocent man stood bewildered, a cigarette burning in his hand. He
stared at the Hound, not knowing what it was. He probably never knew. He
glanced up at the sky and the wailing sirens. The cameras rushed down. The
Hound leapt up into the air with a rhythm and a sense of timing that was
incredibly beautiful. Its needle shot out.
It was suspended for a moment in their gaze, as if to give the vast audience
time to appreciate everything, the raw look of the victim's face, the empty
street, the steel animal a bullet nosing the target.
"Montag, don't move!" said a voice from the sky.
The camera fell upon the victim, even as did the Hound. Both reached him
simultaneously. The victim was seized by Hound and camera in a great
spidering, clenching grip. He screamed. He screamed. He screamed!

"The search is over, Montag is dead; a crime against society has been avenged."

Quote"They didn't show the man's face in focus. Did you notice?
Even your best friends couldn't tell if it was you. They scrambled it just
enough to let the imagination take over. Hell," he whispered. "Hell."
Montag said nothing but now, looking back, sat with his eyes fixed to the
blank screen, trembling.
Granger touched Montag's arm. "Welcome back from the dead." Montag
nodded.

If you resemble the dude in any way,  Feeling nervous is appropriate.  Leave the grey jacket with the hood in the closet.

.......

Every motherfucker who is screaming about the glee people are taking over 'the murder' will feel intense glee themselves when the perp is caught.  Four fingers point back at them. They pearl clutch now, but later they will take sadistic pleasure.  Don't be fooled.  Such people just don't want murder happening to them.  Who does?  But most people are quite safe.  Most people are not out to fuck other people over like Brian Thompson was.

Of course.  And if they can't nail down the guy who really did it, they'll round up all the usual suspects and gin up a case planting evidence and lock up somebody to demonstrate to anyone thinking of copying as a Vigilante Executioner they always get their man.

Who are the usual suspects in this case?  They'll drill down databases for everyone with a policy against all the denied claims and policyholders who died who had relatives who own guns who have criminal records and eventually they'll locate somebody who fits the right profile without an alibi they can make a case against.  Doesn't matter if he actually did it, he was probably guilty of something, right?

This is of course a very difficult case to really solve unless the VE made a major mistake or brags to somebody when he's drunk and celebrating.  There's no money trail to follow, the motive is just straight vengeance.  If there were no witnesses and he disposes of the weapon any evidence will be circumstantial.

The Insurers are killing people every day by denying claims and withholding care for people who can't pay the exorbitant cost of medical care.   Even on the rare occasions they get caught at it as happened fictionally in The Rainmaker, the company declares bankruptcy and the worst thing that ever happens is some mid level executive fall guy gets a couple of years in a federal penitentiary resort for white collar criminals playing tennis and shuffleboard.  None of it makes the newz cycle.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes them to pin this on somebody.  Meanwhile, it will also be interesting to see if this motivates any copycats.  If it got truly DANGEROUS to fuck people over by denying their insurance claims, maybe a few claims adjusters will think twice before they deny a claim.

Like the ending from Fahrenheit 451 I posted.

To do the frame will take a while, though we both might be surprised how fast they do it.  Eventually they will find the real guy when they match DNA, but that requires a lead to a suspect to match, and the time for that can't be determined.  If they find him after the fix is in he vanishes without a trace.

President-elect Donald Trump met with the chief executives of U.S. drugmakers Pfizer and Eli Lilly as well as industry lobbying group PhRMA on Wednesday night.  Anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump's pick to lead the United States' top health agency, was also present at the meeting.  A PhRMA spokesperson confirmed that its president and CEO, Stephen Ubl, was present at the dinner, but declined to share any other details.

In a just society such a meeting would be public (transcribed).  National Security is not threatened if these bozos were talking about retired people getting affordable meds, and why would the American people not have a right to know.  Health care is not private property?

There should be nothing to hide.  Nothing private about what the health care bureaucracy does at all.

The New Yorker reporter is just appalled at how our society has decayed to the point that the execution of a "hard working family man" has been mostly applauded in social media commentary.  I am appalled that he is appalled.  This guy really thinks scumbags like Brian Adams are hard working?

Meanwhile, Reuters reports they have a suspect and the "net is closing in" around him.  They supposedly have recovered a backpack resembling the one the shooter had and they're searching for the weapon in a pond in Central Park.

So it looks like we'll get a trial, and whoever this guy is, he's gonna be an instant Folk Hero.  Then the reporter from the New Yorker will be further appalled when Grouupies throw themselves at him and apply for conjugal visits at Rikers Island.

This is not distraction theater, this is the intermission.  I'll explain.

There has always been confusion in America about what 'class' college educated professionals and wannabe lookalikes belong to.  The INCORRECT and COMMMON view is they belong to a middle class which exists somewhere between rich and poor.

Mass media talking heads on screens are such college educated professionals and wannabe lookalikes.  They are members of a 'middle class' which in fact consists of proletarian class traitors that are paid and treated sufficiently differently from bottom tier proletarians that their narcissistic asses imagine themselves in another class next to the rich.  All because they are paid better than average and wear better threads.  But being paid a bit more is the only difference.  They are still paid for their labor, but with Judas gold.  Gold that makes them betray their class.

They express the moral outrage of the rich.  They identify with the rich.  And they are all about Bambi getting caught.  Lifestyles of exploitation are threatened, Bambi must be caught. But scream as a talking head does, MEDICARE FOR ALL is also talked about.  Health care talk is not suppressed and ignored as the duopoly has done to it since they screwed over Bernie.

If a mainstream talking head were to start talking about the politics of all this they would be fired before their rant finished.  But people use other sources, independent sources who are more attached to reality than the propaganda machine.  Enough people are following independent sources to threaten the hegemonic narrative.

Talking heads express upper class neo-liberal capitalist hate over the health care bean feed being threatened.  There is no empathy among them.  They have only crocodile tears.

If I go to the grocery store how many baby killing vets are in the store with me?  Sent to kill sand niggers for the state, (otherwise known as people with families), our trigger pullers are now solid citizens.  All is good.  Parking places are reserved for our baby-killers.  We thank them for their service.

That being the case, what is wrong with thanking Bambi for his service?  What is the difference?

"The Fugitive" is still on the run, and based on this recounting, the "evidence" against the Person of Interest amounts to a lot of circumstantial nothing.  They don't have the weapon, they have a backpack which might be his, samples of DNA which might be his and photos from surveillance cameras which might be him.  They just as easily might not be the guy who pulled the trigger, just somebody dressed like him who arrived on a bus from Atlanta.  They do not have an eyewitness who could put him at the scene of the crime and the DNA evidence they say they have could be from anywhere.  Unless it was found on a bullet in The CEOs corpse or a shell casing found at the scene, the DNA doesn't tie him to the murder.  My bet is the DNA comes from the backpack they found.

While they apparently have good enough quality images of him without his face covered to identify him, they haven't actually got a name of a person who fits the description.  Utilizing facial recognition software, they could easily run pictures of everyone in the country with a drivers license to find a close match as a starter.  Obviously they don't have his DNA or his fingerprint from any prior run in with the law, or they would have a name that way.  So this person of interest whoever it is has a pretty clean criminal record.

While the article says the longer he evades capture the more likely he is to make a mistake and there is no way to evade capture given the huge resources being deployed to find him, the exact opposite is true.  The longer it goes, the more likely leads will go cold and the more difficult it becomes to put him at the scene of the crime.  This is true of all missing persons cases.  Capture rates drop off dramatically after the first 24 hours, are far worse than that after 72 hours and after a week they are teeny weeny.

How long will the NYPD and FBI keep hundreds of detectives actively working on this case before they drop it in the Cold Case file and just assign a team of maybe 5 agents to keep a full scale manhunt going?  A couple of months maybe?  If they haven't arrested somebody by New Years, the only way this guy will get caught is if he gets drunk and starts bragging about it on Social Media.

The thing is of course that the guy who did it probably would like to take credit for it, he would be instantly a famous folk hero.  Subconsciously he might do something that gives away who he is.  Or maybe he writes an anonymous Manifesto and mails it to the NYT and it ends up giving away his identity somehow.

Meanwhile however, at least so far the perp executed pretty close to a perfect crime without leaving much of an evidence trail.  Despite their claims of the inexorability of his eventual capture, it's not looking too good for the FBI Profilers and the NYPD CSI unit. lol.

A good analysis, I agree.  Delay deny defend depose.

This combo, a dropped word and and added word suggests Bambi acted alone following a personal vendetta.  But they have him on camera using a phone and that could spill the beans.  The camera has a timestamp.  The possible calls will only be a few thousand.  Most records will be quickly eliminated.  Phones have serial numbers that identify and hidden features like computers have.  Bambi and company will have to know all about burner phones to evade detection.  I do not think I know enough to pull such a thing off.

Brian Thompson had been getting phone threats.  Forensic experts are going over phone records, and there is much we don't know.

If an anarchist group did it somebody may spill the beans.  Your analysis is solid, but there are many possibilities.

Given the fact that everything else was so well planned, I would be surprised if he didn't use a burner phone.  The fact that the person they have on video used a phone doesn't mean that person was the killer, even if they do track down the phone call.

If it was him on the phone, that does suggest that he was not working alone.  Who else wold you talk to on the phone during the commission of a crime except somebody else involved?  You're not gonna call somebody for a friendly chit chat.  Not ordering Pizza. lol.

If they do track down somebody and this is all they have as evidence when they go to trial, there's no way it gets a conviction.  Reasonable doubt is still a mile wide.  Whoever it is will also have to match this photo perfectly.  If he gains or loses weight and changes his hair color that can be hard to prove.

On the theory it was a conspiracy and one of the threats he received was followed though on, definitely the possibility exists someone will talk.  Again though in that situation it's still a long ways between them nabbing somebody and a conviction.  Whoever it is has had plenty of time to work up an alibi.  If he maintains his innocence and deny, deny, deny, what do they convict on?  No gun.  No witness.

A suspect has been apprehended!

Luigi Mangione, 26.  Caught eating at McDonalds in Altoona, PA.

Can't wait to hear the evidence.

Remember to take great care not to get caught doing the crime and then walk into a Mickey D's less than a week later with a manifesto and a gun that could have been dumped in a hundred rivers between then and now.

I already posted the end of Fahrenheit 451.

The fix is in.

He did not dump the I.D., the gun, or the mask.  Having the mask means nothing.  I sell the same kind at work.  I doubt the planted I.D. means much more.  Are we really supposed to believe this guy did not 'burn' the fake I.D. after he used it in the hostel.  Absolutely.  Hold your nose and swallow it.

Everything you or I would NOT do to avoid getting caught we are supposed to believe this guy did.

Leave Monopoly money in a backpack, but make sure you keep the murder weapon for six days after all the gangster movie made in the last fifty years taught every American with eyes and ears to get rid of a murder weapon if you kill someone.

It does not add up.  Going underground in some way for a long time had to be part of the plan.  That does not include a visit to Mickey D's.

Several movies involve characters disposing of a gun or guns to avoid detection. Here are a few examples:

    "Double Indemnity" (1944)
    "The Departed"
"No Country for Old Men" (2007)
    "L.A. Confidential" (1997)
    "Mystic River" (2003)

How this woman found out so much about Luigi in ONE hour defies belief.

Given that she was chomping at the bit to do this video, how she knows all about this guy is AMAZING.

12 Minutes long and produced and uploaded in an hour.  I wish I had that talent.

Nobody could buy this story with a straight face.  However, I am not sure it's the Gestapo doing the set-up.  I think it may be the killer(s) and they are the ones that called the cops with the tip.

Why else would he be sitting in a Mickey Ds with the gun and the manifesto except that he was waiting for the cops?  He had to want to be arrested this way.

If what he was doing was trying to get publicity about malfeasance in the medical insurance biz, he succeeded in spades, and a trial is exactly what he wants.  It's his stage to talk about all of it.  He gets the Manifesto read into the record.  It's brilliant.

I suggest an insanity defense.

Because this guy chose to rot in a cell, forgotten.  He thew the celebrity he had away.  The longer it was unsolved the more thought and talk was engendered.  Now all that happens is the boot comes down.

The Mickey D employee who turned him in.  I hope he comes down with a medical condition that is denied.  I hope he gets prescribed prescriptions meds that cost hundreds of dollars a pill in copays.  I hope all the plagues of Egypt inhabit his rectum.

There Manifesto should have just been posted online.  It could have been done here.

Supporters of Mangione have allegedly set up GoFundMe accounts to raise money for Mangione's legal fees, although the site has removed any such pages.

Reddit also appears to be tamping down on support for the alleged assassin. The site banned an r/LuigiMangione community hours after it was created — but not before the page racked up hundreds of subscribers.

Netizens meanwhile have attacked the tipster who phoned police as a "snitch" and a "rat" with some users publicly threatening the unnamed worker.

I don't think he has to worry about the cost of his legal defense, even if the crowd funding sites are taken down.  I'm sure lawyers are lined up around the block offering to defend him pro bono.  The book rights alone will be worth millions, and the publicity the lawyer gets for defending him is priceless.

Was it a mistake to let himself be caught after a week?  Maybe, but he probably didn't like living on the run, and as I said his objective was to expose the medical health insurance industry corruption, which he did successfully.

Far as a defense goes, it assumes he is found guilty, but that is far from a slam dunk unless he confesses.  If the ballistics match on the gun he's probably sunk, but he could claim it was planted and that the manifesto is a forgery.  All of which might in fact be true.  As long as he can establish reasonable doubt, a sympathetic jury might vote to acquit.  This isn't likely of course, but also if convicted, what does he get?  20 years of 3 hots and a cot is not the worst bargain for the fame and to martyr yourself on moral grounds.  I doubt he gets the chair, and he'll be considered a hero by the other prisoners.  I'm sure he'll be protected.

The trial meanwhile will be good distraction theater for a while, and might get some changes made in the way a few claims adjusters pay claims.  Maybe we'll even get a copy cat killer and Open Season will be declared on CEOs.  ;D

Happy Hunting!

Hope he keeps his trap shut until legal help can let him know what he is in for.  Life in a supermax prison cell under florescent lights 24 hours a day for the rest of your life is best avoided.

Thing is he isn't crazy.
Quote"To the Feds, I'll keep this short, because I do respect what you do for our country. To save you a lengthy investigation, I state plainly that I wasn't working with anyone. This was fairly trivial: some elementary social engineering, basic CAD, a lot of patience. The spiral notebook, if present, has some straggling notes and To Do lists that illuminate the gist of it. My tech is pretty locked down because I work in engineering so probably not much info there. I do apologize for any strife of traumas but it had to be done. Frankly, these parasites simply had it coming. A reminder: the US has the #1 most expensive healthcare system in the world, yet we rank roughly #42 in life expectancy. United is the [indecipherable] largest company in the US by market cap, behind only Apple, Google, Walmart. It has grown and grown, but as our life expectancy? No the reality is, these [indecipherable] have simply gotten too powerful, and they continue to abuse our country for immense profit because the American public has allwed them to get away with it. Obviously the problem is more complex, but I do not have space, and frankly I do not pretend to be the most qualified person to lay out the full argument. But many have illuminated the corruption and greed (e.g.: Rosenthal, Moore), decades ago and the problems simply remain. It is not an issue of awareness at this point, but clearly power games at play. Evidently I am the first to face it with such brutal honesty."

Just to be clear, as my history memory isn't near as good as my technical one, what political crime was Leonard convicted of? Or is this another case of...interesting....political claims that upon examination don't always look to be as political as claimed?

For example, no one has yet explained why American communists can get million dollars homes and luxury autos for everyone in the family while past examples of communist countries get gruel, block housing, and public transporation?

People who have cannabis use disorder may also be at a higher risk of other negative consequences, such as problems with attention, memory, and learning.

Understanding Your Risk for Cannabis Use Disorder
Key points
Some people who use cannabis will develop cannabis use disorder, meaning that they are unable to stop using cannabis even though it's causing health and social problems in their lives.
The risk of developing cannabis use disorder is greater in people who start using cannabis during youth or adolescence and who use cannabis more frequently.
Signs of cannabis use disorder
Fast Statistics
Approximately 3 in 10 people who use cannabis have cannabis use disorder.1
It is estimated that people who use cannabis have about a 30% likelihood of becoming addicted.2
The risk of developing cannabis use disorder is greater in people who start using cannabis during youth or adolescence and who use cannabis more frequently.3
The following are signs of cannabis use disorder:4
Using more cannabis than intended
Trying but failing to quit using cannabis
Spending a lot of time using cannabis
Craving cannabis
Using cannabis even though it causes problems at home, school, or work
Continuing to use cannabis despite social or relationship problems
Giving up important activities with friends and family in favor of using cannabis
Using cannabis in high-risk situations, such as while driving a car
Continuing to use cannabis despite physical or psychological problems
Needing to use more cannabis to get the same high
People who have cannabis use disorder may also be at a higher risk of other negative consequences, such as problems with attention, memory, and learning.

Leonard Peltier is a Native American activist and a member of the American Indian Movement (AIM) who was convicted of two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of two Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents in a June 26, 1975, shooting on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. He was sentenced to two consecutive terms of life imprisonment and has been imprisoned since 1976.  Peltier became eligible for parole in 1993.

I object to Krystal Ball diagnosing the cause of Luigi's actions as resulting from your alleged disorder without evidence.

Two salient points.
1) 12 jurors who's job it was to determine the facts of the matter disagree with you, at least in terms of him being guilty of murder. It is possible to be convicted of murder while just hanging around with the people doing the murdering. So Leonard might not have been the shooter, but he was wrapped up deep enough in it to be part of the gang held responsible.
2) No political crimes at all, just typical murdering and stuff.

I just finished up nearly 2 weeks as a juror in a murder trial. It was the most amazing experience. In the end, it was just little ol' me and a guy with a PhD doing advanced research with large language models, having a BLAST going over the jury instructions, debating the meaning of words, when is a robbery perhaps not a robbery, the nuance was wonderful and it was the best intellectual exercise I've had in months.

In this case there were 7 people in a room about the size of what any good communists living room in any million dollar home looks like. One person fired a gun. One died. No one saw who fired the gun. All were arrested ultimately except the wife of the deceased.

We did this cool thing, examining the evidence, understanding the perspective of all the witnesses (4 of the 7 testified, one refused to testify, one died, and the defendant wasn't talking), used our brains and stuff, no one was allowed to be smoking hallucinagenic substances because we were, you know, supposed to do that thinking thing, etc etc.

According to someone trying to duck the murder charge...NO PROOF!!!

I completely agree with my original statement that Leonard wasn't convicted of any political crimes. I heartily recommend not murdering people, and if one does, don't get caught.

Delay Deny Depose.

MOFO gets what I saved and earned in a lifetime in less than a week.  For supporting a system that exploits and kills. A system based on financial violence and financial murder..

When a stubborn pain in Nick van Terheyden's bones would not subside, his doctor had a hunch what was wrong.

A blood test in the fall of 2021 confirmed the doctor's diagnosis, and van Terheyden expected his company's insurance plan, managed by Cigna, to cover the cost of the bloodwork. Instead, Cigna sent van Terheyden a letter explaining that it would not pay for the $350 test because it was not "medically necessary."

The letter was signed by one of Cigna's medical directors, a doctor employed by the company to review insurance claims.

Something about the denial letter did not sit well with van Terheyden, a 58-year-old Maryland resident. "This was a clinical decision being second-guessed by someone with no knowledge of me," said van Terheyden, a physician himself and a specialist who had worked in emergency care in the United Kingdom.

Without enough vitamin D in the blood, the body will pull calcium from the bones. Left untreated, a vitamin D deficiency can lead to osteoporosis.

The vague wording made van Terheyden suspect that Dr. Cheryl Dopke, the medical director who signed it, had not taken much care with his case.

Van Terheyden was right to be suspicious. His claim was just one of roughly 60,000 that Dopke denied in a single month last year, according to internal Cigna records reviewed by ProPublica and The Capitol Forum.

The rejection of van Terheyden's claim was typical for Cigna, one of the country's largest insurers. The company has built a system that allows its doctors to instantly reject a claim on medical grounds without opening the patient file, leaving people with unexpected bills, according to corporate documents and interviews with former Cigna officials. Over a period of two months last year, Cigna doctors denied over 300,000 requests for payments using this method, spending an average of 1.2 seconds on each case, the documents show. The company has reported it covers or administers health care plans for 18 million people.

Before health insurers reject claims for medical reasons, company doctors must review them, according to insurance laws and regulations in many states. Medical directors are expected to examine patient records, review coverage policies and use their expertise to decide whether to approve or deny claims, regulators said. This process helps avoid unfair denials.

But the Cigna review system that blocked van Terheyden's claim bypasses those steps. Medical directors do not see any patient records or put their medical judgment to use, said former company employees familiar with the system. Instead, a computer does the work. A Cigna algorithm flags mismatches between diagnoses and what the company considers acceptable tests and procedures for those ailments. Company doctors then sign off on the denials in batches, according to interviews with former employees who spoke on condition of anonymity.

"We literally click and submit," one former Cigna doctor said. "It takes all of 10 seconds to do 50 at a time."

Not all claims are processed through this review system. For those that are, it is unclear how many are approved and how many are funneled to doctors for automatic denial.

Insurance experts questioned Cigna's review system.

Patients expect insurers to treat them fairly and meaningfully review each claim, said Dave Jones, California's former insurance commissioner. Under California regulations, insurers must consider patient claims using a "thorough, fair and objective investigation."

"It's hard to imagine that spending only seconds to review medical records complies with the California law," said Jones. "At a minimum, I believe it warrants an investigation."

This is one of those situations where EVERYBODY KNOWS it's a racket, but the insurance companies simply pay lawyers to come up with new fine print or new procedures to circumvent regulations designed to protect the policy holders.  Then a couple of years are spent in litigation about the claim adjusting policies, and if they are found in violation they pay a fine and rewrite their procedures and go right back to denying claims based on the new system until somebody sues again, then rinse and repeat the whole game.  Meanwhile a few dozen people die, the company rakes in millions in premiums, the lawyers and managers get fat paychecks and the shareholders get a nice dividend.  Thus explaining why some policy holders have given up on getting help from the legal system and are investing in 3D Printers (ones that actually work).

If one doctor is rubber stamping 60,000 denials in one month, more than a dozen people are dying each rinse and repeat cycle.  Your math is a bit off.

That explains it.  Health care executives earning billions by being assholes and running a system of institutionalized murder has nothing to do with it.  That is a bridge too far.  The idea of someone not thinking that American health care must be the best in the world.  Preposterous.  Only madness can explain this mental delusion, and the source of madness must itself be explained!

QuoteThe notion that reading a shooter's statement will cause people to snap to attention and become homicidal maniacs, like some kind of Manchurian Agent trigger word, is media paternalism at its worst. (Somehow this phenomenon does not apply to members of the media, who happily circulated copies of the manifesto among themselves.) More importantly, the news media is not a public safety organization. The fact that it's increasingly behaving like one is alarming. The First Amendment doesn't have an exemption for speech that might inspire bad things, nor should it.

In the largest corruption case in China's history, the Chinese government executed Li Jianping on Tuesday. Jianping, a former official in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was sentenced to death after being found guilty of embezzling over three billion yuan (approximately $421 million).

The execution was ordered by China's Supreme People's Court and carried out by a court in Inner Mongolia, according to the Xinhua News Agency. Jianping, 64, had served as secretary of the Communist Party working committee for the Hohhot Economic and Technological Development Zone. His death sentence was initially issued in September 2022 and upheld on appeal in August 2024.

Since coming to power in 2012, President Xi Jinping has made anti-corruption a key part of his governance. Official reports state that over a million party officials, including two defence ministers and several military leaders, have been punished or prosecuted under the campaign.

In a speech to the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection plenary session in January, excerpts of which were published in the party's theoretical magazine Qiushi, Xi called on officials to take a bold stance against corruption. He warned against interest groups undermining the Communist Party and emphasised the need for what he termed the party's self-revolution.

NEW YORK — The man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare's CEO has been charged with murder as an act of terrorism, prosecutors said Tuesday as they worked to bring him to a New York court from from a Pennsylvania jail.

Luigi Mangione already was charged with murder in the Dec. 4 killing of Brian Thompson, but the terror allegation is new.

Under New York law, such a charge can be brought when an alleged crime is "intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, influence the policies of a unit of government by intimidation or coercion and affect the conduct of a unit of government by murder, assassination or kidnapping."

The charge does not fit, the civilian population is not at risk and Brian Thompson did not work for the government, so no government unit was threatened.  All these considerations make the terrorism charge a bridge too far. Thompson had the government working for him.  He paid for it.  Like rain on a wet day the terrorism charge proves collusion between health care executives and the government.  That collusion is truly terrorist.

What this does effectively is change this from a straight criminal trial for murder to a political trial about the medical and insurance industries.  From this point of view, it's actually a good thing.  Da Goobermint likely wanted this so they can go for the Death Penalty.  However, I think it backfires because Luigi's expensive lawyer should be able to make the case this was motivated by his own pain from the back surgery.  I think most juries will be sympathetic to that.  Jury selection will be the biggest factor in this trial.

Mangione has been indicted on 11 charges in New York, including first-degree murder as an act of terrorism. He has not yet pleaded to the charges.

He also faces charges in Pennsylvania in connection to the 3D-printed firearm and false ID allegedly in his possession when he was arrested. Blair County District Attorney Peter Weeks said he would not push to have those charges heard ahead of Mangione's much more serious charges in New York.

And a federal complaint against him was unsealed midday Thursday adding four new charges and providing new details on a notebook authorities say was in his possession.

An example will be made.  Killing a powerful rich person has consequences. (https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse4.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.3gncllfNBiP-S_bVMoaGIQHaFO%26pid%3DApi&f=1&ipt=7a7dbc2a9d73fcad14ada9992312fe6b05ed3172f4eec57dfb5b6a59fd318c8e&ipo=images)

They've definitely "thrown the book" at him.  Well, if they give him the needle, we'll have a great Martyr.  Remember the Haymarket Affair! ;D  ;D  ;D

The Haymarket Affair

Monument 1912.jpg
"No single event has influenced the history of labor in Illinois, the United States, and even the world, more than the Chicago Haymarket Affair. It began with a rally on May 4, 1886, but the consequences are still being felt today. Although the rally is included in American history textbooks, very few present the event accurately or point out its significance" William J. Adelman

The entire event
was most mysterious

To understand what happened at Haymarket, it is necessary to go back to the summer of 1884 when the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions, the predecessor of the American Federation of Labor, called for May 1, 1886 to be the beginning of a nationwide movement for the eight-hour day. This wasn't a particularly radical idea since both Illinois workers and federal employees were supposed to have been covered by an eight-hour day law since 1867. The problem was that the federal government failed to enforce its own law, and in Illinois, employers forced workers to sign waivers of the law as condition of employment.

...everywhere slogans were heard like
"Eight Hours for Work, Eight Hours for Rest,
Eight Hours for What We Will!" or
"Shortening the Hours Increase the Pay".

With two years to plan, the organized labor movement in Chicago and throughout Illinois sent out questionnaires to employers to see how they felt about shorter hours and other issues, including child labor. Songs were written like "the Eight Hour Day" (available on American Industrial Ballads, Folkways, FH 5251); everywhere slogans were heard like "Eight Hours for Work, Eight Hours for Rest, Eight Hours for What We Will!" or "Shortening the Hours Increase the Pay".

On May 1, 1886,
reportedly 80,000 workers
marched up Michigan Avenue

Two of the organizers of these demonstrations were Lucy and Albert Parsons. Lucy had been born a slave in Texas about 1853. Her heritage was African-American, Native American and Mexican. She worked for the Freedman's Bureau after the Civil War. After her marriage to Albert, they moved to Chicago where she turned her attention to writing and organizing women sewing workers. Albert was a printer, a member of the Knights of Labor, editor of the labor paper The Alarm, and one of the founders of the Chicago Trades and Labor Assembly.

On Sunday, May 2, Albert went to Ohio to organize rallies there, while Lucy and others staged another peaceful march of 35,000 workers. But on Monday, May 3, the peaceful scene turned violent when the Chicago police attacked and killed picketing workers at the McCormick Reaper Plant at Western and Blue Island Avenues. This attack by police provoked a protest meeting which was planned for Haymarket Square on the evening of Tuesday, May 4. -10. Very few textbooks provide a thorough explanation of the events that led to Haymarket, nor do they mention that the pro-labor mayor of Chicago, Carter Harrison, gave permission for the meeting.

Most speakers failed to appear. Instead of starting at 7:30, the meeting was delayed for about an hour. Instead of the expected 20,000 people, fewer than 2,500 attended. Two substitute speakers ran over to Haymarket Square at the last minute. They had been attending a meeting of sewing workers organized by Lucy Parsons and her fellow labor organizer Lizzie Holmes of Geneva Illinois. These last minute speakers were Albert Parsons, just returned from Ohio, and Samuel Fielden, an English-born Methodist lay preacher who worked in the labor movement.

The police panicked,
and in the darkness
many shot at their own men

Anti-labor governments around the world
used the Chicago incident to
crush local union movements.

The Haymarket meeting was almost over and only about two hundred people remained when they were attacked by 176 policemen carrying Winchester repeater rifles. Fielden was speaking; even Lucy and Albert Parsons had left because it was beginning to rain. Then someone, unknown to this day, threw the first dynamite bomb ever used in peacetime history of the United States. The police panicked, and in the darkness many shot at their own men. Eventually, seven policemen died, only one directly accountable to the bomb. Four workers were also killed, but few textbooks bother to mention this fact.

In Chicago, labor leaders
were rounded up, houses were entered
without search warrants
and union newspapers were closed down.

The next day martial law was declared, not just in Chicago but throughout the nation. Anti-labor governments around the world used the Chicago incident to crush local union movements. In Chicago, labor leaders were rounded up, houses were entered without search warrants and union newspapers were closed down. Eventually eight men, representing a cross section of the labor movement were selected to be tried. Among them were Fielden, Parsons and a young carpenter named Louis Lingg, who was accused of throwing the bomb. Lingg had witnesses to prove he was over a mile away at the time. The two-month-long trial ranks as one of the most notorious in American history. The Chicago Tribune even offered to pay money to the jury if it found the eight men guilty.

On August 20, 1886,
the jury reported
its verdict of guilty.

On August 20, 1886, the jury reported its verdict of guilty with the death penalty by hanging for seven of the Haymarket Eight, and 15 years of hard labor for Neebe. On November 10, the day before the execution, Samuel Gompers came from Washington to appeal to Governor Oglesby for the last time. The national and worldwide pressure did finally force the Governor to change the sentences of Samuel Fielden and Michael Schwab to imprisonment for life. Although 5 of the 8 were still to be hanged the next day, on the morning of November 10, Louis Lingg was found in his cell, his head half blown away by a dynamite cap. The entire event was most mysterious, since Lingg was hoping to receive a pardon that very day. Adolph Fischer, George Engel, Albert Parsons and August Spies were hanged on November 11, 1887. In June of 1893, Governor John P. Altgeld pardoned the 3 men still alive and condemned the entire judicial system that had allowed this injustice.

In June of 1893, Governor John P. Altgeld

Haymarket Martyrs.jpg

The real issues of the Haymarket Affair were freedom of speech, freedom of the press, the right to free assembly, the right to a fair trial by a jury of peers and the right of workers to organize and fight for things like the eight-hour day.

While textbooks tell about the bomb, they fail to mention the reason for the meeting or what happened afterwards. Some books even fail to mention the fact that many of those who were tried were not even at the Haymarket meeting, but were arrested simply because there were union organizers. Sadly, these rights have been abridged many times in American history. During the civil rights marches of the 1960's, the anti-Vietnam war demonstrations and the 1968 Democratic National Convention, we saw similar violations to our constitutional rights.

Today in almost every
major industrial nation,
May Day is Labor Day.

The Haymarket Affair took on worldwide dimension in July 1889, when a delegate from the American Federation of Labor recommended at a labor conference in Paris that May 1 be set aside as International Labor Day in memory of Haymarket martyrs and the injustice of the Haymarket Affair. Today in almost every major industrial nation, May Day is Labor Day. Even Great Britain and Israel have passed legislation in recent years declaring this date a national holiday.

For years, half of the American Labor movement observed May 1 as Labor Day, while the other half observed the first Monday in September. After the Russian Revolution the May 1 date was mistakenly associated with communism, and in a protest against Soviet policy, May 1 was first proclaimed Law Day in 1960's.

The year 1986 marked the centennial of the Eight-Hour-Day movement and the Haymarket Affair. Folk singer Pete Seeger and a group called "The People Yes," named after Sandburg's volume of poems by that name, planned a nationwide celebration. This event offered teachers a unique opportunity to teach the facts about Haymarket and to correct the distortions and inaccuracies in our textbooks.

           IN THE HOUR OF EXECUTION.

                              1887.

Is this what we must bear, O Freedom, Mother,
To see thy face and but to touch thy hand?
    Is there no easier way?
Must death another take, and yet another,
While tears and lamentations thru the land
Show the great price we pay?
Yet, if it must be, Freedom, none say nay.

See, Thou, these waiting for the hangman's halter;
These friends of man, must these be given to death?
    Freedom, we ask again!
If in the sacrifice we do not falter,
Wilt thou repay us for their strangled breath?
    Wilt thou come nearer men?
Thou wilt, we hope. With groans we give these, then.

The debt is paid!-Thy martyrs lie before us,
Their mute lips speak thy words into our ears,
And bid us seek thee far.
Freedom, we know thy sun shall yet shine o'er us;
And looking up, exalted, thru our tears,
     We cry, beneath thy star,
"Take these! Take us, if need be: thine we are!''
                           WILLIAM FRANCIS BARNARD.

THE CHICAGO MARTYRS.
On the 1st of May, 1886, the United Workers of America laid down their tools and said: "Ten hours is too long for a workingman to toil each day, we therefore resolve not to again take up their tools until the em-ployers agree to an eight-hour day.' This was the first attempt at a general strike, and as a walkout it was a fair success. Every man who had promised to strike, did so and many thousands of non-union men and women marched out with their union comrades, and stayed with them until starvation drove them back to the factories and mills again at the old rate and hours. In many instances they won the eight-hour day, but since it did not become general, the employers that agreed to the demands of the workers were forced to re-turn to the ten-hour day thru the inevitable workings of the law of competition.

The eight-hour day did, not become an actuality but a victory of far more importance was achieved by that strike. The workers learned the rudiments of social action upon which future success must be founded  --- unity, solidarity. The workers learned another thing of equal importance in the struggle against capital; they discovered that labor united and acting together, is a mighty giant, against whose strength it would be useless for even the combined forces of capital to contend. They saw clearly that the cause for their failure did not lie in the great strength of united, capital, but rather in the lack of sufficient unity among themselves. This was the most dangerous knowledge of all. So long as the toilers were kept in darkness relative to their own strength when united in a common cause the way of the exploiters was easy, but once let them see the possibility of asserting their independence, of achieving their liberties, and of improving their social and economic conditions, and they would never again rest upon their oars and adjust themselves to the miserable conditions that surround them. To be sure, they had gotten glimpses of this knowledge in previous struggles, especially in the strike of 1871, when they routed the soldiers at Pittsburgh and drove them from the city out into the tall grass; but it required a movement like that of 1886 to fix the matter definitely, and for all time, in the mind and in the traditions of the working class of America.

As was expected, the police were extremely active during the strike, excessively cruel and harsh in many instances. They clubbed everybody, right and left, along Blue Island avenue and Madison street, where the street car men were striking. And at the so-called McCormick riot they killed and wounded many without provocation, by shooting into the crowd volley after volley. As an 'innocent onlooker," I was badly scared when a bullet plowed thru my coat, carrying a portion of my finger with it on its journey to the breast of a striker who stood directly behind me. The poor fellow swooned and fell, but was quickly carried away to his squalid "home" by his comrades. I afterwards learned he died as a result of the wound, leaving behind a penniless wife and five small children, to weep and curse the fate that brought them to "free" America. That was but one of very many similar cases that occurred all around me on that fateful day.

The Haymarket meeting was a public protest against those atrocities. Surely, it had good and sufficient justification. But, momentous as was the occasion for it it would not now be one of the leading historic events in the world's labor movement had not the police attacked it. There was not the slightest excuse for dispersing the meeting, not even from the "law and order" point of view. The strike was in full swing, and the masters had undoubtedly become greatly alarmed at the show of unity and resistance displayed by the workers. The police certainly had special orders to use every means at their command to suppress the strike, law or no law. Law is observed by the authorities only when it can be used to suppress the workingman; when it protects him it is ignored.

An unknown hand cast a bomb into the midst of the platoon of police that was descending upon a peaceful and orderly meeting of citizens, gathered together to discuss their just grievances. Eight policemen died as a result of the explosion. Then eight men were coldly and deliberately picked from among the leading, and, consequently, the most "dangerous," Anarchists, and put on trial for murder and conspiracy. No responsibility for the throwing of the bomb was traced to anyone of the eight men. The bomb thrower has never been discovered. The law says a case must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt before conviction can be had. This was a case where the law interfered with the execution of the wishes of the authorities, so it was quietly set aside. Here was a chance to rid the community of eight dangerous men; men whom the glare of gold could not silence; men of proven ability as organizers of the discontented; men whose teachings were farreaching and deep-rooted, the practical application of which would destroy every privilege enjoyed by the rich and powerful; here was the golden opportunity to rid themselves, once for all, of those desperate enemies of society. But the good work had to be given the semblance of legality. It would never do in this enlightened, progressive, free country to kill our enemies in the crude fashion of barbarous Russia. Besides, the Russian method might produce a reaction more terrible than the pestilence they sought to destroy.

At last justice prevailed, and law and order were vindicated. The farce was ended. The prisoners must hang. Despicable and disgusting as was the whole proceeding up to the last, the end of it was sublime. Can imagination picture a grander climax in contrast to the whole unmanly and dishonorable proceedings of that trial, than the sight of the condemned men rising in their seats and, in words charged with dignity, honesty and a defiant indignation, denouncing the whole infamous court, with its gally of mental prostitutes, perjurers, scoundrels and hypocrites, and the entire system of wage-slavery and wealth-knavery that support and maintain it, bidding defiance to it all, and declaring themselves ready to die for the principles they loved, and which, they were sure, one day, would liberate mankind and make life a pleasure and a joy worth living?

Parsons worried the court for six hours; the speeches of the other comrades were not so long, but they are masterpieces of their kind, and have traveled around the world and given hope and courage to hundreds of thousands of toilers, in a dozen languages.

Spies, Fielding and Schwab signed a petition for clemency. The others refused, absolutely, to make any appeal for mercy. They insisted upon either liberty or death. Spies had signed the petition on the advice of his counsel and friends, tho under protest, and soon regretted his action, and penned the powerful letter, printed in this issue, asking that he be allowed to pay the penalty for all. This and the other letters show the true spirit of the men. No compromise; liberty o death. Schwab and Fielding were willing to accept imprisonment rather than death. Their sentence was commuted to imprisonment for life. They were afterward released by Governor Altgeld, together with Oscar Neebe, who had been given fifteen years by the packed court that condemned his comrades to death.

The funeral was long, solemn, impressive. Thousands of workers marched behind the five hearses that slowly carried the remains of their crucified friends and comrades to the depot, whence they were conveyed by train to Waltheim cemetery. On Sunday, December 18, 1887 the five caskets were placed side by side in an underground vault, over which a monument stands, a cut of which appears on this page. The monument is inscribed with the last words of Spies. Thus I have related in brief a chapter in the great social drama of the nineteenth century.

Luigi as Che.

Gen X compares Luigi to a comic book hero.

I see a resemblance to one of the most authentic men who ever lived.  Acting on beliefs is something few of us have courage to do.  Our social matrix blinds us to inequity and the suffering of people we do not know.  Few of us have the courage to make the change that in our hearts we know the world needs.

Our system murders by the millions and we look away pretending that it is not so.

Rule by a heartless few is no way to live.

Indeed, and agreed. And as both commies (good ones such as yourself or those icky other kind there are more of), democrats, aristocrats, technocrats, aristocrats, oligarchcrats, rich folk and most any other group in charge of collecting more stuff than they deserve just keep doing it anyway. Us regular folks let them do it and have been for at least a generation or longer, if you count how long communists at least have decided that communism means enslaving the people in pursuit of power for the few.  And we old geriatrics around here with not much in front of us except a dirt nap..... why does how the world works in your and all of our twilight years bother you so? Does 2+2=4 bother you as well? Gravity? The speed of light?

Quote"Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common. With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold. They laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need."

Violence has no place in Politics?  Violence IS Politics.  Wars, Armies, Police, Revolutions, Riots, Assassinations, Torture, Terrorism, Prisons, Deportations, Embargoes, Sanctions...every nation-state in the world does or uses some or all of these techniques to further their political goals and agendas.  Often the actions are covert and the general population never evn know about them, much less has the ability to consent to their use. What they really mean is that the State has a monopoly on the use of violence and the individual or group opposed to the State can't retaliate in kind.

As those of us who observe the way the world REALLY works know, the violence is often the ECONOMIC kind, be it sanctions that prevent a country from purchasing energy to insurance companies that refuse to pay for life saving medicines or procedures, resulting in deaths measured in the hundreds or thousands.  As Gen. Smedley Butler wrote, his real job in the military was as an enforcer for Wall Street.

The Economic Hitmen of the IMF enslave entire countries making loans, fomenting revolutions and coup d'etats and piecemeal selling off a nation's wealth in privatization of the commons.  It's systematic large scale violence perpetrated every day in the global political landscape.

Individuals who retaliate in kind are hunted down and vilified, despite the fact their crimes are orders of magnitude less violent than the actions of the state and the corporatocracy that controls it.  Only when people grasp that they are being violently abused and defend themselves against it will they be able to break this monopoly on violence.

The Terrorism Report

Considering Luigi is charged with terrorism, I want this guy charged too.  I am more afraid of this guy than I ever was of Luigi, and I speak for all of Seattle since this shooter is still at large.

This doesn't look like terrorism, it looks like a hit.  WTF is walking alone at 3AM in this neighborhood, and how does the shooter know he's going to show up?  I would bet this is drug related.

Also, since the victim is not a CEO, I doubt they will mobilize the entire FBI to find the shooter.

Exactly right, so do you think this guy and the shooter the Luigi is alleged to be are the same guy?

There is a lot in common.

Just a city street under cameras where one guy waits for another, shoots him, and then runs away.  All of it videotaped by surveillance.  Nothing in common at all?  It seems to me, based on the video, that they have everything in common.  And my point is there is so much in common that it should be the same charge.

That is why this guy should be charged with terrorism.

Or do we need to know the occupation of the dead guy first before it becomes terrorism?

The rationale is in the motive for the shooting.  The Terrorism charge is being brought because he was targeted for his position as CEO of an insurance company.  We don't know exactly why this other guy was targeted, but it probably wasn't that.  Probably owed money for drugs, or maybe he was fucking the shooter's wife.  Anyhow, Luigi's shooting makes a political statement.  Thus the Terrorism charge.

I dispute that.  If there is a political statement being made it is being made by the state, and all the other players in this drama.  Of which we are a small part.  Not by the NY suspect who is in the klink, and working with his lawyers I'll guess full time.

All we really have in both cases is video of a shooter, and a man dying on a city street.  That is all we know in both cases.  Everything else we know is coming from the FSOA and news coverage.  Good bad, and everything in-between.  Everyone else is filling in the blanks.  I go back to the fact that the fossil record shows nearly identical crimes. From my philosophical materialistic point of view, that is all that matters.

Interpretation like the conjuring of the terrorism charge is all in ones head.  In both cases dead is dead and really nothing else.  That is what the universe sees.  The universe saw bullets move.  Everything else is a story.

The terrorism charge is a pre-crime charge.  The actual charge is murder.

Las Vegas, Hmmmmmmmm what are the odds of a false flag like the Boston Bombing being put in place to distract from a multitude of other things.

Activate some Manchurian crazies.  People on the edge.  Get their phones to working on their nervous asses.  Turn a few knobs.  Tell a few lies.  Tweak the algorithm.  Provide some facilitation.

In a statement after Peltier's commutation was announced, he said: "It's finally over – I'm going home. I want to show the world I'm a good person with a good heart. I want to help the people, just like my grandmother taught me."

Peltier has maintained his innocence since he was arrested in connection with the deaths and had for decades been supported by advocates for his release by Coretta Scott King, Nelson Mandela and Pope Francis.

A genuine political prisoner is released.  Good he lived long enough to see the day.
