The Taliban have built a system for enslaving women in Afghanistan

The Taliban systematically oppresses Afghan women through laws enabling child marriage, domestic violence, and bans on education and healthcare, effectively enslaving them and driving unprecedented female suicide rates. Despite brutal repression, Afghan women resist through secret schools and protests, while the international community remains passive.

As abhorrent as Taliban treatment of women is to people raised under Western values of gender equality and equal access to education etc, cultural valuesthat evolved over centuries in the West can't easily just be plopped down in a culture that never went through the evolution through Feudalism and Capitalism. Afghanistan is the same kind of tribal Theocracy it was a Millenium ago.

The article finishes with this canard:

But despite the blackout, the problem was never that the "civilised" world does not know what is happening. It knows very well what happened and what was done in Afghanistan, but as usual, it chose to just watch.

The "world" hasn't sat back and watched, everybody from the Soviets to the Brits to the FSoA has sent grunts over there and dropped the Death from Above on those mountain Tribes for the last 40 years to try and dislodge the Taliban Imams from running the show there and treating women as Chattel in the good old Biblical Fashion. They had ZERO success, and during the years these campaigns were ongoing, the same people who today complain about the treatment of women and that the West turns a blind eye were then complaining about interference from outside on their type of goobermint and society. Fact is, difficult as it is to engineer Regime Change, it's even harder to completely change the cultural values of a society where no matter who gets control, they ALL treat women the same way.

Of course I find the treatment of women there abhorent, and I sure don't like the way they make them dress. I'll bet you though Afghanistan is one of the few places left on Earth where there is a Fertility Rate above replacement level. Besides somehow wiping out all the men above the age of around 5 somehow and letting all the women reform the society as a Matriarchy, I'm not sure how you can change their society.
