Really difficult to hear some of the particulars about the dude who went to help the Russians and was apparently killed by them. And RE once talked to on the phone, which apparently makes him important in "no one else notices" section of the doomer blogosphere.

Had an interesting life story the guy did, read through the Wiki K-Dog linked to. I agree that committment and belief is what he had, and disagree that he was within a ligthyear of Ernest Hemingway in any way other than he went to a war zone. Which doesn't make him any different than probably millions of American veterans during the Middle Eastern nation building fiascoes of yesteryear.

Of course you would disagree.  You are our troll.

I read the Wiki, didn't notice any Pulitzers or Nobels on the other guys resume? Did I miss them?

And my point on the audio was straight up, RE's mic appears to pick up nearly everything including plenty of background noise.  I was rewinding and trying to catch something he said multiple times.

I haven't been using an external mic.  Just the mic in the phone.  Maybe I'll switch to may headset mic.

Most likely has to be the mic, I've got this bug blower fan running in my office, but the mic I've got for video calls doesn't seem to pick it up for a second. It almost seems directional, or focused, and doesn't collect ambient at all. I've recorded some videos on higher end digital cameras that seem to have this ability as well. Not a clue what metric shows up in mic specs to quantify how well it does or doesn't collect ambient.
