Well, it's not a Planet Killer, but it's big enough to flatten Washington DC.  Unfortunately, we have to wait until 2032 for impact.

Now, is this a real threat, or just another convenient distraction?

"We Can No Longer Stop It from Hitting Earth": Asteroid 2024 YR4 Is on a Collision Course with Earth, and It's Too Late to Deflect It

2.5% chance of landing on Earth still makes this a 1/40 chance. If I was playing Russian roulette I would take those odds. If we are still talking about this in six months time then we would have a more interesting debate as by then the odds would have risen. If you win this bet I will come to Alaska and buy you a beer.

It's really not worth talking about until it reappears in 4 years after disappearing from view.  Then it will be on its way towars us and we'll get a definitive answer fairly quickly I expect.

Elon Musk and Space X to the rescue!

Accept his rule or this could be you.

After President Musk and his Trumpinsi take my Social Security, Space X will have more than enough money to  nuke this thing in time.  The Muskness is so efficient how can things go wrong!  Nobody gets more mailbox money than Musk does.  Musk has taken more government money than anybody else.  Now he and friends are taking it all.  More than enough of our money to put a nuke into space.

Dumfucks have put thieves in power.  Poverty will be upon us, but thankfully the meteor will not.

Paraphrasing something a famous forum owner once said, "I worked hard for my 7 figure plus net worth, and damned if someone is going to make me share it with the less fortunate!" ...something like that.

It struck me as both an honest statement, and an answer no different than Elon might venture, should someone disparage his net worth, mailbox money or otherwise. My parents, union workers both who survived on mailbox money for 2 decades (and one of them still is), would back up both the forum owner and Elon I imagine.

Seems to me that there isn't anything wrong with mailbox money, or having earned one's assets some other way, be it working hard as a coal miner or forum owner.
