Regardless of anything, humanity will become extinct. The Sun continues getting lighter every single day.

There is nothing we can do to stop the inevitable, but in the short term < 10,000 years collapse could have been avoided.  Civilization could have reached a point we can't imagine.  But that is not going to happen.

The far future is not under our control, the near future was.

If 10,000 years from Cro-Magnon showing up, getting "smart", and wrecking the climate is the time period, I'd say we are WAY past our expiration date already then.

Human control is just another illusion. The idea that the different nations of the world could cooperate, going back say a century or two is just a bad joke. Dunbar's Number matters, and works against it from the get-go.

Here I am last spring having coffee in the lobby of the Las Vegas Trump Tower.

This is 40 feet from where the Cyber-Truck blew up.  Straight through the golden doors and slightly to the right.

It is hard to see but there is a gold 'T' over the doorway in the background.  Top quality wood and stone everywhere.

It makes sense, but really the dude had problems and wanted to off himself.

His wife kicked him out the day after Christmas for cheating and his explosive spectacle hurt innocent people.  The Diner is not impressed.  I consider this attack and the New Orleans attack to have been influenced by Luigi.  Human action in a confused state is directed from social cues.  The men in the Las Vegas and New Orleans attacks learned violence on their job,  Both were angry and both were confused.  Angry and confused is key because these men observed that Luigi was becoming a folk hero, and in their confused minds both tried to get some of that hero status.  Cash in on some of that social approval.  Using the tools the U.S. government taught to them.  They lived in a brutal world.

There will be more copycats.  Among them character will be in short supply.
