You have to be high to know it is not a crime.

No, I am not railing through a 80mph corner on a racetrack waiting for the front or the rear to begin to slide. The only "high" I have ever known. Maybe winning cross country races in high school and college? That was pretty euphoric. But being so out of sorts that I need artificial help with feeling better? Nope.

In either case, my point was more, he isn't the first asshat President to do something that has been brushed back by the courts. Truman's seizures of steel mills? Roosevelts New Deal programs? I imagine someone in the moment might have thought those Presidential actions were out of the line, the courts did as well. Maybe even trumpeted high crimes and misdeameanors. So now its the Orange One's turn to see how far he can stretch his wings.

Crimes are also relevant within historical context. John Brown was hung for treason. But he was right. I imagine the opposite has happened as well.

American history is replete with not just our inconsistencies, but our need to lie, boast, bleat like sheep when we disagree and trumpet triumphs that involve killing off fellow citizens that aren't even considered bad in the moment.  1921 Tulsa Race massacre. Happy times for white folk!

America....land of the free and home of the brave. More like land we stole from the locals and then he who murdered the most along the way who had the most money made the rules.

Maybe folks need to be high to firmly insist on the a position or a side in this country, because cold hard logic sure isn't much fun when looking at current political leaders, or past ones.

A question among the more politically oriented....who was the last decent President? I mean, a DECENT person, someone most certainly not from our modern crop of scumbags and glad handers looking for power and prestige?

Jimmy Carter?

Never had a glass of wine?

Goes a long way toward explaining the stick stuck up your ass.

Nope. No beer. No cigarettes. No weed. No pills. I objected to prescription medication until I got gout in my 40's. Was quite anomalous growing up in the hills and mt friends first thought it was funny, and then tried to get me to participate, and then gave up.

And then I discovered motorcycles and it was game over for thinking artificial means could ever replace the feeling of dancing at the edge with every sense heightened and screaming information and guess what?

Drugs are a crutch of some sort. Difficulty in dealing with a life that didn't go as planned? Difficulty with a reality that doesn't recognize their abilities, assuming they were even there to recognize? To compensate for lack of...something? Anything? Robin Williams used drugs to alleviate mental issues to begin with.

Hunter had it more right, and when he got it right, he certainly allowed for the use of drugs in this quote I suppose. But once you watch and see who uses them, what it does to them, his theme certainly doesn't REQUIRE them to arrive at the right mental attitude. Never seen drugs do much good, but the latest SOuth Park episode and what drugs did to them? An absolute riot....and quite illustrious.

Nah. That comes from a lifetime of delivering results, and the confidence that comes with it.

Doubtful.  If you didn't drink beer in college, the stick was already up your ass.  I'd bet you were a prick in preschool.

How wude! I never drank anything. Daddy was a murderous drunk....I didn't need any more examples of what even booze does to people, to think hard drugs were any better.

My prickdom mostly originated in this century. Do you know how affronted PhD's can get when you dismantle their research that has stood for more than a quarter century? But once you pull back the curtain on the Wizard of Oz and his tricks, you do gain quite a bit credibility among the more uppity educated types. Or maybe they just don't want someone putting a laser focus on their fields of study next?

Self puffery CoC violation.  Cooler.

Do I have to explain myself?

My point is to NOT know that things are completely and totally FUBAR in America at the current time would require being in an ALTERED STATE.

It could be from drugs or a bad childhood or just plain stupidity.  Pick anything, I do not care.  If anybody thinks things are 'normal' today, they have screws loose.  Or screws missing altogether.  Labeling their lack of correct perception beyond anything but a general cognitive impairment does not interest me today.  I do not care how they were broken, that is a personal problem.  The fact that we must suffer the consequences of their broken existence is the issue.

I did not expect to trigger a rant about pharmaceuticals.

RE

Like El Trumpo even CARES what the courts say?  How will the SCOTUS enforce their rulings, even if they do rule against Trumpolini?  The FBI and all the other 3 letter agencies answer to Trumpovetsky.  Have rulings against deporting people stopped the deportations?  Soon he'll have a Gestapo force of ICE agents 10X the current size.  You think they'll restrict themselves to intimidating immigrants?  You think he'll stop at deploying the National Guard in Chicago & Baltimore?

Will anyone with some money & power grow a pair?  Where are the guys who tried to get Smedley Butler to stage a coup against FDR when we really need them?

Are you sure you want to stick with that analogy?

The individuals who attempted to recruit General Smedley Butler to lead a coup against President Franklin D. Roosevelt were motivated by fascist ideology.

MAGA voted in the coup, just like the Germans voted the NAZIS in.  That was an equally stupid case of mass delusion.  Now fascists are in the White House.

We need a Smedley Butler to do an UNDO !

Some folks might have different experiences when it comes to the consequences of being in proximity to drug users. Might have given them a bad impression as to the general practice.

Yes, I realize the analogy is somewhat flawed.   However in this case, the CURRENT goobermint is fascist, so the coup sponsors would seek a socialist goobermint to replace it.  Wouldn't be the same sponsors of course, since Smedley's backers are all long dead by now.

Not sure who they should install though.  I don't think there's a modern equivalent of Smedley Butler in the military.

What is going on with unemployment.  As Americans we can never know because the numbers and definitions defining it are decided by the deciders and deliberately designed to obfuscate reality from the average guy.

But whatever the upper class number means you can decide which way it points by yourself.  And you can see where it has been going all last year.

Rumor has it the current number is exceptionally divorced from reality.

An EXCELLENT turn of phrase. With one change, it ABSOLUTELY fits what I've been watching for more than 20 years now.

And the conclusion on the other topic was certainly the same.

Volume in stock and oil futures surged minutes before Trump’s market-turning post

At around 6:50 a.m. in New York, S&P 500 e-Mini futures trading on the CME recorded a sharp and isolated jump in volume. A similar pattern was observed in oil markets. Roughly 15 minutes later, at 7:05 a.m., Trump posted a market-moving announcement about Iran on Truth Social.
