You are a data point, marching through time with a slowly evolving perspective. This perspective, your behaviors, emphasis and arguments changing along with the web locations where you have spent your time. Even your style has changed, from the peakoil.com days through reddit and your various website adventures. The SUN days. Some of those changes can probably be credited to your physical changes over time, which aren't a surprise. Hell, some of my changes are directly related to aging as well, like what I would do with the grandparents place. I used to think "hey...if doom happens regardless of why, a natural gas powered house on 100 acres of bottomland and woodlands with its own gas wells isn't a bad place to be". More of a mental exercise, I don't have any desire to return to my roots as it were. My wife and children would revolt, for starters. "Venison?!?!?!? Three nights this week.....screw that...where is the nearest McDonalds!". "Sorry honey, they all ran out of ice and then later were overrun by the MZBs and shut down."

It isn't about credibility so much, yours or anyone elses. All the early peakers (not you so much, you didn't ever lock down to hard on a date, it was more of a general thing to you it seemed like) screwed the pooch, some just more amusingly than others. Certainly there were credibility issues, Colin Campbell lacked it, as did all the technical minded folks I can think of. While peak oil took quite some time to solve, that was because it required some decent $$ and a combination of experience across three different specialties. And then....you science the shit out of it. The decent $$$ ran into the 7 figures. That is certainly part of the bugaboo of the entire thing. 

As far as getting off the radar, that is easy. Die, or stop posting as yourself where your current ideas and continuing affiliation with doom topics can be compared to your past.

You are in good company though. David Hughes is still floating around, some folks from peakoil.com migrated to peakoilbarrel, some even wrote books thinking they had solved it mathematically. A PhD in EE as a matter of fact. He is full of shit, but great fun to poke and argue with. Some TOD folks, and of course Art "there is no oil in US shales" Berman is now doing philosophical commentary that is AI written, I'd be willing to bet dollars to donuts on. Nate seems to have moved on, but still hosts some of the old suckers on his show.

Ron Patterson, Gail tends to play in just "energy" now...using the same arguments and similar graphs that she did at TOD, but with no better logic regardless. Just argument, from someone who's global peak oil is approaching a 20 year oopsy. Whipple died. Heinberg is reinventing the wheel as best he can and morphed into more eco...although recently I caught a whiff of him trying to recycle his nonsense again, trying to explain why he had been wrong....by now admitting what was obvious to those of us who didn't fall for it knew back then. Couldn't tell him that in the moment though, him being a good violin player pretending to be a geoscience polymath of some sort.

And there are others, but most have dried up and blown away.

Far as changing ideas, when I began I wasn't interested in Peak Oil and energy at all.  Just curiouss about the reasons behind the collapse of Bear Stearns and Lehman Bros.  I ran across a paper by Antal Fekete that led toexploring the debt which led to energy costs which led to resource depletion.  I spent more time on economics blogs than Peak Oil at the beginning, but PO was livelier back then.  Lookking at long term effects, at first I was in the Amish preindustrial cam, eventually moving to the stonee age camp.   Never bought into NTHE and Guy McDoomster theories.

As you collect more data and do more research, over 20 years your thinking has to evolve,otherwise you haven't learned anything.

Anyhow, I'm not going to die too soon, I just don't get why I deserve so much attention.  Why waste the time?  I have no credibility.  Seems silly.

It certainly was. I got involved on the economics side, but it took half a decade or so or untangling the techinal malfesance first.

The number of data points certainly matters, but the temporal component can't be ignored, in terms of how, after decades, and with hindsight, their previous positions have evolved.

And as most have ghosted their audience and websites and whatnot (or been abandoned by their audience?), the data points are far fewer with increasinng longevity.

I read an account of a guy who pulled up next to ICE and then started following them.  He followed ICE all the way back to his own house.  Using the MN state resources obviously.  I can relate to his existential dread when he realized what was going on.  Freaky.

On the international level,  Trumpolini is trying to control the oil trade by preventing anyone with oil available for export to sell to anyone he perceives as an enemy, aka shithole countries populated by brown people with socialist goobermints.  For the exporters, this starves them of FOREX needed for food imports, thus raising the price of food in those countries.  This is destabilizing gooberments of both exporters and importers in South America, the Middle East and Africa.  Economic sanctions alone weren't sufficient because of the so-called "shadow fleet" of tankers, so he has escalated it to using the Navy to pirate these ships.  As a result of the destabilizattion, war is breaking out just about everywhere now.

Nationally, he is trying to ethnically cleanse Amerika not just by shutting down immigration, but also deporting any brown people who migrated to the FSoA over the last 30 years or so.  Cities like MPLS which have large easily identifiable communities of these immigrants are the primary target.  The escalating violeence gives him still more excuse to send more Gestapo and double down on the whole process.  That bizness is destabilizing the goobermint here and further polarizing the population.

With Free Elections, I'm pretty sure at this point the Repugnants would lose both houses of CONgress, we'd get an impeachment and there might be some chance of stepping back from the brink.  I'm just not real hopeful we'll get free elections.  By Nov I expect more federal gestapo in the cities. challenges to election results and refusal to seat newly elected Demodopes.  I would not be surprised by a major false flag terrorist event here to justify Martial Law in the next 6 months either.
