Immigration officers claim sweeping power to enter homes without a judge's warrant, memo says

Federal immigration officers are asserting sweeping power to forcibly enter people's homes without a judge's warrant, according to an internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement memo obtained by The Associated Press, marking a sharp reversal of longstanding guidance meant to respect constitutional limits on government searches.

Writs of Assistance were broad search warrants that allowed British customs officials to search property without a court order and force law enforcement officials to help them. In 1761, James Otis challenged the Writs in court, leading John Adams to say, "American Independence was then and there born."

James Otis and the Birth of the American Revolution

The most significant event associated with American resistance to British policies is the 1761 Massachusetts court case of Paxton v. Gray. Following the death of King George II, new Writs of Assistance — search warrants — needed to be issued to British customs officials under the name of King George III.

A group of merchants in Boston believed Writs of Assistance were illegal and filed a lawsuit. They were represented in court by James Otis and Oxenbridge Thacher, who argued the Writs were illegal and infringed on the rights of the merchants.

During the proceedings, Otis delivered a fiery speech that lasted anywhere from four to five hours. One of the key points he made was that homes should be protected from being searched by British customs officials on a whim. He said, "...one of the most essential branches of English liberty is the freedom of one's house. A man's house is his castle..."

FBI agent quits after Trump officials try to blame the victim, Renee Good, in fatal ICE shooting

After the Trump administration decided that investigating the fatal ICE shooting of Renee Nicole Good had less to do with the guy who pulled the trigger and more to do with why the victim had the audacity to be in the bullet's trajectory, an FBI agent from the Minneapolis field office decided his moral compass was incompatible with federal employment.

Unless you want to go along with the narrative you got to do what you got to do.  In this case quit.  I wish him luck finding a new position.  Perhaps when the time is right he can put some of the trump regime behind bars.

Serious Nazi shit.

It is about choices.  You make a choice and I give you consequences.  I follow the law and you don't.  I am the law and you are my bitch.

This is the operating system of Gregory Bovino.

Federal and state officials both claim moral high ground after Alex Pretti shooting

The moral highground of Gregory Bovino presented in a video inside the article.  He is Mr. Choice.  You make a choice - I give you consequences.  Henceforth Bovino shall be known by me as Mr. Choice.  This is a both sides article, but really ICE has nothing to say.  You make a choice, they shoot you.  No law involved.

The Black Trenchcoat and Black Uniforms for the ICE Stormtroopers are OBVIOUSLY meant to remind people of the Nazi Black Shirts, the SS Elite Military division and the Gestapo Secret Police.

Trump is an out of the closet White Supremacist, and he has no shortage of people in the law enforcement biz with the same political persuasion that are part of the MAGA faithful.  There is no question Trumpler is modeling his visual "look" to tie the subconscious collective memory to the 3rd Reich.  It's part of the fear campaign.

"This has never been about public safety," Murphy said. "Minneapolis is a much less safe place today because ICE is there.
This is likely about trying to rig and steal the election
."

Not newz to readers of the Diner, of course.

If indeed the election actually takes place, it's going to be an absolute MESS of challenges, recounts and lawsuits, besides stationing ICE Blackshirts around polling places to "detain" as many Brown people as possible before they can actually make it to a voting booth.  Then after a few months when some court actually certifies the election, it will bee a few more months before the Speaker actually swears them in, which only happens if by then the FBI hasn't supplied some Venezuelans with enough C4 to vaporize the Superbowl.

The window dressing that was "democracy" in the FSoA is just about done.  How long will fascist repression of dissent last now before collapse moves to the next stage of violent rebellion and failure of the state?

Now we know the identity of the ICE agent who shot and killed a Black man, Keith Porter Jr., on New Years Eve.

Heber Sanchaz Domínguez

Likely murdered in the Robert A. Deyton Detention Center in Lovejoy.  He had been in custody 6 days so we can assume his health was not so bad he was near death.  Like duh.  Sánchez had been in ICE custody for six days and was awaiting a hearing before the Department of Justice's Executive Office for Immigration.  The detention ceter's medical staff discovered Sánchez hanging by the neck and unresponsive in his sleeping quarters at about 2:05 a.m., ICE said.

My my, ICE says lots of things.

The Mexican Consulate General is demanding a transparent investigation after a 34-year-old Mexican national, Heber Sanchez Dominguez, died in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody at a Clayton County detention facility just days after his arrest.

Victor Manuel Diaz

Died in ICE custody Jan. 14 at Camp East Montana in El Paso, according to ICE.  Another alleged suicide.  Rinse and repeat.  His body was sent to William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) instead of the El Paso County Office of the Medical Examiner who performed the autopsy reports on both previous detainees to die at Camp East Montana.  Obviously something to hide.  The family is skeptical that he may have committed suicide.  Ya Think.

Family doubts ICE suicide ruling in death of Nicaraguan man arrested in Minnesota

Victor Manuel Díaz was detained at a Coon Rapids (Minneapolis suburb) restaurant before being transferred to the Texas ICE facility, where he died.

Parady La

Another one likely beat to death.  Parady was a 46-year-old Cambodian refugee who arrived in the United States as a child, died on January 9, 2026, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, after just three days in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).  Found unconscious in his cell; agents performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and administered several doses of Naloxone, an opioid antidote. Rushed to the hospital, his condition rapidly deteriorated, with anoxic brain injury, shock, multi-organ failure, and complete kidney failure, leading to the cessation of brain activity.  The use of Nalaxone tells you that ICE is covering something up.  That is if you have a brain.

Luis began telling his family that he wasn't feeling well a few days after Immigration and Customs Enforcement transferred him to a California facility, his daughter recalled.  She said her father had just eaten breakfast at a McDonald's and was on his way home when he stopped to talk to a friend who was working nearby when ICE showed up and arrested him.  Luis should not have had to die in prison.  ICE initially detained Luis in mid-November in New Jersey, where he had lived for decades.

Geraldo Lunas Campos
