It was a page out of the Trump playbook.  A Trump knee-jerk reaction on how he gets his way.  And as much as some people talk about how dumb Trump is I have to point out.  Trump just played America and the entire American Media with files of archives and people familiar with Trump's past said nothing.

You're jumping the gun.  The Iranians demand reparations and control over the Straight  I don't see either side budging on these, so you'll just get 2 weeks of jawboning and market manipulation.  A few tankers will move through the straight, refilling supplies of jet fuel slightly.  Eventually, either the Israelis or FSoA will do a "surprise" attack.  Straight will close again.  This may rinse & repeat a few times.

The Tehran regime goes to the negotiations planned for Friday in Pakistan bloodied but still intact. It still holds a stockpile of highly enriched uranium (the original crux of the conflict with the US, Israel and allies), and it now claims at least part-control of the strait, having demonstrated its power to close the narrow waterway and hold the world to ransom.
